New quilts

In the last two pages of my Webshots you can see some new photos.

The first quilt, Party on the Block, was a class conducted by Karen Dumont. We made very simple blocks, then cut 1/3 of them in quarters, and the remaining 2/3 got cut in half on the diagonal. They they were pieced back together again....allowing for those tiny four patches in the center of each block. It was a fun class and my first attempt at using a jelly roll. I made a LOT of feather wreaths on this.....it was great practice!

The next quilt, POSIES, was from a pattern by Carolyn Perry Goins. I just thought it was so cute and perfect for our first granddaughter.....due in September. Due to a cutting error (cutting the borders the same width as the sashings), I added a narrow piping and then more border fabric to widen it out.....but I like it! Sometimes accidents pay off!

Very nice, Alice! I haven't used a jelly roll before either, but have been thinking about it. Party on the Block would be a fun one to start with. Posies is just so cute - just perfect for a little girl. And isn't it great when an error leads to creative thinking? I really like that piping.

All your quilts are just beautiful. The posey quilt is perfect for Grandma's first quilt for baby. I love "Ben's Quilt" too. It's a log cabin pattern, no? You made it look like something far more complicated. I thought it was a perfect guy quilt. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the photos! Love the Party on the block. Kind of reminds me of Bento Box or Disappearing 9-Patch. Might have to buy that Party on the Block pattern.

(Yes, I'm 5 months behind reading RCTQ!!)
