new to me machine

I responded to a Freecycle listing and received a Montgomery Ward UHT J

1947. After wiping it and cleaning the bobbin casing of lint, I stitched a little and can find nothing wrong. Wish I had a manual for it.

I found a good sewing machine manual site a while back - maybe one of these manuals would be close enough for you:

Thanks. I looked at that site last night. I asked the freecycler if they still have a manual but haven't heard back.

Enjoy your new baby! I think it's a classic. If the seller doesn't have it, you might check the Sew For Sale Yahoo group, or see if you can find somebody who's nutty about old machines. You might give this place a call: Arbuckle's Railroad Place -

Thanks, Heidi. Today DH opened it up to clean and oil. The outside was dirtier than the inside. The owner said asking for the owner's manual was "a tall order".

Don't give up! I have my grandmother's *and my mom's Singer manuals from about that time.

If Mr. Arbuckle doesn't have it, he may know where to find it...
