Not OT: Sewing table

Has anyone ever seen something like this? I am getting set up to see this. The current owner says it is about coffee-table high, and will be sending me the full dimensions later today.

Ain't it cool looking?

That is very cool. It surely is from a different era. That is the style of stuff we grew up with but I never have seen a piece like that. Would be a fun piece to own/use. Probably was well made of real wood. It sure is tough to find real wood or anything not made in the orient. Taria

Interesting...I actually used to have a coffee table that looked like that! Can't quite figure out how you'd use it for sewing....would you sit on the floor...? Looking forward to the report.....

An aunt had a similar table many years ago and it was a side table for her easy chair to hold items for hand sewing or knitting. I'm thinking that she kept a lamp on the table help her see better in the evenings. Barbara in FL

I believe that it is a kind of cobbler's bench..I have one that my great grandfather used..its a bit different style, but has the spot where you sit and the cubbyholes for tools and supplies..

my grand mother had one similar to it...she used it for a telephone table/gossip bench. the drawer held phone books and the phone went on the shelf, the little "dips" were to hold her espresso cups! it's really adorable....snap it up! rock maple furniture is hard to come by these days in good condition.

Well, I did not get it. At 4' long, it really is too big for the space I have for it. It was pretty neat, and I shared the info you all had posted, with the gal. They got it in a storage locker sale. I did come home with a rock maple end table, for a song, that is perfect for a pot I have.
