The idea to remove the corners is excellent! One often sees that in the old quilts, so it is a tradition. I don't know if they added a thin liner corner, but I do prefer that anyhow. Another tip: plan on taking the quilt home periodically for laundry. The facility laundry will lean toward hard detergent and very hot water. BTDT. PAT in VA/USA

Traditionally the quilts had a cutout corner because of 4-poster beds with "curtains" which helped keep the bed warm at night. No fill-in in the corner to get in the way of the post.
