I knew this day was coming. My 1953 Singer has a serious malfunction. Not fatal, but I cannot use it. I am having withdrawals. I drug the little white plastic Singer out of the closet, and try as I might, I cannot bond with her. I don't like her.
Here's what happened: The thingy that holds the bobbin thread in place has a lever on it, and the lever is sprung out. Something must have broken. It's only 56 years old! So I *think* I just need a new bobbin casing. I found one on ebay, but it will take a week to get it.
I think to ease the withdrawal, I will go on a cutting marathon. I'll fondle my fabric, and do all the cutting, then have it all ready to sew when I can get the part.
To add insult to injury, there was some footage on the news of the recent tornado damage here. A man was carrying a sewing maching in a cabinet, legs broken, looked *exactly* like mine, and THREW it on the trash pile at the curb. I was screaming "Wait!! Wait!! I need a part off of that!!" Sigh.
Thanks for listening. I knew I was very emotionally attached to my old Singer, but I didn't know it was going to be this bad. :-)
