Oh phooey! (not OT)

I've been procrastinating about doing the free-motion quilting on my feathered star quilt; a matter of not quite being sure what I wanted to do. However, I finally made up my mind -- and should have stuck to my decision! :S Yesterday I echo quilted one of the stars of the quilt, a sudden change of mind that I thought would really emphasize the feathers. Wrong. It looked dumb. The good news is that I only did one star, and it only took about twenty minutes to do it. The bad news is that it took 2.5 hours to pick it all out -- partly because I'd used a smaller stitch length. Aaaarrrrggghhh.

More good news: I've gone back to my original decision, and it's looking lots better. It will take time, though, since it's a pretty dense pattern. I just hope I can finish it before I leave to see my DT.

Time lately has been at a premium, especially so with lots of babysitting going on and some family problems in DD's home. :(

Well, that is a bummer!

I'm glad you got the wrong quilting picked out without any damage to your quilt. Nice that what you imagined is looking good. Hang in there, you'll love it when it's done!

Thanks, Marcella (the *real* one!). I sure hope so. I'm still trying to decide how to quilt the stars themselves; right now I'm working on the vast expanses of navy background. :)

Good for you, Sandy. I'm so glad you took out the quilting when it didn't suit you. Good, good for you. Sooo much better than plodding on hating the way it looks or tossing it aside, never to be finished. Yes. Heaps better. I have a painting in progress that is not going well. The background has been redone several times and still I'm not pleased. Perhaps you give me inspiration to try again. Yes. I believe you do. Thank you. (mine won't take hours but will it be okay if I grumble and complain the whole time?) Polly

I agree -- and that's what finally swayed me towards the unpicking. I couldn't stand the thought of hating it or not finishing it.

Absolutely! Why should I have been the only one to grumble and complain the whole time?? ;) Go for it!

YES!

Exactly. And now that I'm past the picking-out stage, I'm so glad I

*did* pick it out. The quilt is looking so much better that it would have. :)
