Pfaff free-motion quilting

First of all, I don't use a Pfaff, so NAYY here. I just saw a little blog entry (video format) that could help some of you who do free-motion quilting on a Pfaff and would like extra visibility. If that interests you, go to and watch the video that Patsy Thompson (who does *gorgeous* machine quilting) has prepared.

Again, NAYY -- I use a Bernina. I just thought someone here might find this useful.

Thanks Sandy! I would buy one tomorrow if we still had a Pfaff dealer in town. Wow, that's an amazing piece of equipment. And yes, she does quilt beautifully. I bet the underside of her feathers is just as good as the top.

Thank you, Sandy. I enjoyed watching the video. The sound is off on my computer - we cleaned it and must have hooked the sound up wrong. Maybe we didn't hook it up at all. It was a joy to watch her glide through feathers. Didn't she make it look easy? Polly

"Sunny" Thanks Sandy! I would buy one tomorrow if we still had a Pfaff dealer

Sheesh, you're right about her quilting. Incredible. I'm trying very hard not to hate her. That is a nifty little invention and I can see how it would really help.

I use a Pfaff (7570) for most of my FMQ, but I don't use the Pfaff darning feet. I prefer the Big Foot from Lynne Graves. Partly for visibility and partly because I can completely lower my presser foot and don't have to use that "park" position. But, I'm still going to buy one of these ankles because I'm a tool junkie and have to try everything. More later.

The cost (including US shipping) is $43.

Roberta (and anyone else who wants to know), they ship UPS and will ship internationally. She was not sure of the price for that but will find out. I now have the personal e-mail of the woman who does the shipping and will be glad to e-mail it to anyone who would like to contact her.

Thnaks for the link Sandy, this should make my Pfaff even more wonderful to use for FMQ.

She certainly does make it look easy, Polly -- as do some of the other quilters who do beautiful feathers. It almost makes me think that someday I may find it easy. LOL!

I must say that I enjoyed that video! Thanks for alerting us. I don't sew on a Pfaff but the video was a joy to watch. Polly, I have finally overcome my fear of free motion quilting! I'm not good, nor do I think I'll ever be really good - but I am adequate. I have actually finished several quilts and they aren't too bad. It certainly is much faster than hand quilting, at this rate I stand a chance of finishing many more quilts. Thanks for your gentle nudging. Bonnie NJ

That's music to my ears, Bonnie. You'll remember last week Michelle showed us anti-motivational posters and my favorite (and Kathy A's, I think) was: " If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly." We may never advance from adequate to really good - but then, we just might. Polly

I cannot find a link to click to see this video. When I tried to submit a comment, the response was that it was a duplicate comment, that I'd already submitted!! I've never even been there before! Too strange. PAT

Thanks, Polly, I've had access to that link .... but NOT to a video screen!! Anyhow, I've already received a gracious reply to my query from Patsy herself. She told me to click on the video screen. I have written back to her asking where I could access that screen. This is a mystery I hope to solve because I like to treat Pfilomina Pfaff to new accessories every now and then! ;) PAT
