I got one for Christmas to go with my Little Gracie frame. It seems like a nice machine. It needs to be cleaned and oiled with each project and a speed control of some kind is recommended as it tends to go fast. There is a yahoo group where you can read more.

I've had mine for almost 2 years. I don't use it in a frame, but free motion quilt the old fashioned way, moving the quilt by hand. It has a great stitch when doing FM, and is a good work-horse type machine. Even if you buy it elsewhere, there are some good hints to follow when you get your new machine on this website

Do you use a different machine for piecing? I have a Bernina 153 right now, which I use for everything, but am thinking about the Juki because I would like to get better results (with less pain) in maching quilting. I need another machine like I need another hole in my head, but really like the idea of the long throat.

I have one. Have it on a Handi quilter. I do reccomend the Handi Handles or something like it. They have a speed controll, start and stop, and thread cutter button right on the handle. It makes it a poor mans longarm:) Im still not very good at it but I dont get to use it much. Good luck

The Juki comes with a 1/4" foot, that you can use for piecing, as well as a standard presser foot, a walking foot and two free motion quilting feet. I still like to piece on my Pfaff, as the 1/4 inch is more accurate, and since the Juki is just a straight stitch machine, I use the Pfaff for machine appliqué etc.

Same here...I'm not crazy about the 1/4" foot onthe Brother 1500 that I have either --which is very similar to the Juki tl98q3 ( where do they come up w/ these model #s????) -- so I piece on my pfaff .

Plus, the Pfaff has that dreamy IDF. (Integrated dual feed.) It sure helps with piecing. PAT

Yes, which I love ! The Brother 1500 does have pin feeding...a little pin with the feed dogs that pushes your fabric/quilt along but still love the Pfaff's IDT much better. Mary
