OT - A Friendly Reminder

I work in a court house and we just had a sentencing today on a kid who killed his best friend cuz they were drunk and he was driving. He, his family, the other boy's family and all of their friends are devastated. And... he will be serving 6 months in jail and 400 hrs of community service including student education.

Not worth it.

Thank you Connie and you are right - it wasn't meant to shock anyone. This lovely young girl has had her life changed forever because of a drunk driver - that person needn't be an alcoholic either, just a person who, like you say, may have had that one drink too much. Have a safe New Year one and all.

I know... I don't read here much anymore since I really haven't been quilting. I make jewelry when I feel creative. I do have a hand quilting project going on, but rarely pick it up.

I don't even know most of the people on here anymore so I don't usually bother to come read.

PLEASE keep in touch with us -- we miss ya! -- even if you're not quilting!

Howdy!

Your fabric stash is getting lonely. You have my address. I have the friendliest stash in the world!

Happy New Year!

We don't know who talked about what to the kids, do we? Sometimes parents and teachers can talk themselves hoarse and some kids won't abide the message. Sad for all concerned. Personally, I think the sentence was too light. PAT

It was light, but the victim's parents didn't want him to get more time cuz they knew it could have just as easily been their son and that this kid will have to live with this the rest of his life.

I know RCTQ is FAMOUS for OT posts, but they are usually evenly balanced by quilty talk. I didn't want to only post OT with no quilty stuff to balance it out. Sometimes I come and do an 'audit'. ;)

Wow... sorry it took so long to reply, but I've been elsewhere. Working more hrs... Lots of criminals here in NH, apparently. LOL

My son rides a lot in the summer. Still does his mountain races. He beats his time from the previous year each time, so that's good. He could do better if he trained more, but he enjoys what he puts into it, so that's all that counts.

Chelsea is looking to go into photography and is searching colleges with that focus (no pun intended) in mind. She's a junior now.

Just seen this Sharon and have emailed it to my teenage daughter and my 21 year old son as a warning. I'm always harping on to them not to get into a car with anyone that has had a drink. Although horrendous it is a very visual warning thank you for posting it. Maybe if one of my DDs friends had seen it she would never have got into the car with a boy who was drunk and died as a result, just before Christmas. It's one of the biggest killers of young people up here. Alcohol and drug abuse is a serous problem that somehow needs to be tackled.
