OT; A rainy day project

I thought you might like to see a small project of woodworking that Iconceived of and completed, (as far as the woodworking is concerned,and not the varnishing), in one rainy day in the shop downstairs. Thegenesis of this little table, is the recent moving of a wing backchair into my sewing room for me to sit at, at times other than thosespent sewing. I have had the chair upstairs in the quilt gallery, andit was not being used to any degree. More like being stored there. Ibought this chair for use in the living room for myself, as I havealways loved the colonial wing back design. But times changed and thechair was relegated to gallery duty in the attic. So I brought thechair down to my sewing room and placed it where I wanted it, and satdown and realized that there was no place to put a cup of coffee, orcool drink, while sitting there, in regal splendor. So off to thebasement to see what I had for table suitable lumber. What I foundwere some Maple boards and a bit of left over Cherry. At the end ofthe day I had a 24" tall table with 12" round top table that fitperfectly into the theme of the wing back chair. The round top is of arecessed surface design, with integral rim. The stand is 2" squarestock with chamfered edges connected to arched feet. The one daysconstruction did not include three days of applying varnish to it, andrubbing and polishing the whole thing out to a fair-thee-well shine. Inow can sit and sip tea or a dram of Sherry, and read WutheringHeights, or other period novels, in the appropriate setting. Secure inthe knowledge that I am doing it in the appropriate style. You getextra points at the library for this, don't you?Here you go.

SHHHHH!!! DW is trying to bring my Mom's (deceased '85) Christmas Cactus back to it's previous splendor after a period of neglect. It's still hanging in the front window in the macram=E9d plant hanger Mom had it in. (Not to worry, soil's been changed and all that other stuff...)
