OT: A small whine

I got a tooth pulled today and am hoping I can deal with work over the next couple of days as time off is not really an option. Just looking for a few hugs and healing thoughts.......okay, I'm looking for a little sympathy, dang it.

On the good side, I have finally found the dentist we all want......a competent, professional and kindly young woman with a sense of humor, who doesn't berate me for all the years of dental neglect and who can pull a difficult tooth almost painlessly. By the time she gets done with me I will not only have a decent bite again, and a healthy mouth, but I've also nearly lost my aversion to dentists. Wish I had met a dentist like her 30 years ago, I would be in much better dental shape. Honestly, if Dr. Rochelle told me I should brush my teeth while standing on my head, I would give it a try.

Just to pull this into an On Topic post, I've nearly finished the top for my nephew's quilt, need to add the last border and have ordered the backing fabric. Now I am excited about starting the next quilt even though it will be a WH and appliqué--something I've never done before.

And if some kind soul will remind me of the proper (and easiest) places to post pictures, I'm going to learn to post my quilt pictures online this weekend. Then you can all see my triumphs and my dreadfuls.

I can sympathize. I started last October with resolve to get my teeth in shape after at least five years of neglect. I had three jaw teeth extracted, and got a partial denture. I was really dismayed about that at first, but it looks & feels so natural, I don't know why I didn't do it years ago. I'm still not finished; I just got two new crowns last week and have some more to go. I also found a good dentist and learned that I do much better with nitrous. Simply because it compresses time. I don't dread going to the dentist anymore. Good luck! Even losing three teeth at once wasn't too bad. Not much pain really, but everyone is different. Hope you have as easy a time of it.

Ah, Carolyn, poor baby. Bless your heart. Come here and let Aunt Polly hug you a while. I do hope your dentist gave you some guidance about heat or cold and such and that, if pain pills are involved, that you know whether they do best with a full glass of water or whatever. When you are outside in this cold, Keep your mouth Shut. (That advice from my little mother who was certain you could take a bad cold and other stuff after an extraction if you were out in cold weather. Nobody dared contradict her. Facts wouldn't have mattered anyway.) So very sorry. Polly

Carolyn you poor baby, big hugs to you. I can relate totally to your dental aversion. And also to the joy of finding a good dentist. I hope your recovery goes well and you are soon back to quilting and doing all the things you enjoy, with a comfortable mouth to boot. :)

I need to visit the dentist too. I don't have an aversion to dentists, just having to go to a new dentist. I really should break down and make some phone calls. I keep procrastinating, cause we are hoping to find an acreage to move to and depending on where we end up, it may make me much closer or farther from any given dentist. Then I would be wanting to change dentists yet again.

Hoping that the extraction doesn't bother you too bad at work.

Just a helpful hint, Carolyn: pineapple juice is renowned for helping gum healing. Nice medicine! . In message , Carolyn McCarty writes

You have it! I had to have one pulled back in the autumn. It had been root filled and then fell to bits!

I go to a very good dentist as well. I usually see the same chap each time, but have seen a couple of the others in emergencies, and they are all very good.

Good luck!

I need to get a couple of quilts finished this year...

Webshots seems popular, but I'm not sure how it works. I'm sure you have very few dreadfuls! :)
