Jeanne, Oooooh! I, so want to be there with you. This morning it is another gray day with drizzle. Don't get me wrong it is simply beautiful here too, just in a different way. I live in the middle of the timberlands, where it's not uncommon to see elk, deer, coyotes, etc. One year I witnessed a mother and her two new-born fawns. One wasn't able to move in time before we approached them. I stopped my vehicle and rolled down the window. My DS and I looked at the new born just on the edge of our road (dirt and if we're lucky gravel covered), curled up, so tiny, trembling, mama and sibling watching closely near by. We didn't stay long, maybe a minute and then we left the area. I didn't want the baby to be away from it's mother for too long. It was a once in a lifetime event. I've also watched a mother bring her baby to our apple tree and watched quietly through the window while she taught him how to eat the apples that had fallen on the ground and then the next year he returned with little nubs on his head, the next year he brought his mate and baby. I didn't get to see them this year. We have Corki and he runs them off with his barking. Although, he didn't witness them eating our pears. There was a whole group of them that evening. My DS gets excited when they show up. He despises hunting season! Anyhow when I was a young girl into my early teens we lived in Spain for a few years. I loved the warm weather, with a gentle breeze and the frio con leche we'd order if we happened to be in town. Wonderful memories. Hmmm, I wonder how much it'd cost for a one way! lol What a glorious time we'd have!
