OT: Arrived safely!

DH and I arrived in Zephyrhills last night, safe and sound. The trip south was interesting, to say the least! The fall colours through NY and PA were wonderful! The first morning was overcast, and then we had drizzle up to downpours for the rest of the day. We took a detour west through Ithaca, and went on a tour of Penn's Cave near State College. Stayed outside of Pittsburgh on night one. The next morning we had a quick visit at the Frick, then headed south on I-79. Made a stop at Tamarack centre in West Virginia (I-77). We don't travel this way usually, so enjoyed all the quilts and other hand crafts at the centre. After looking as some of the price tags on the quilts, DH asked why we weren't rich! Shortly after leaving, there was a sign on the highway about an accident at exit 19 in VA. We sat in a traffic jam for 2 hours. I got lots of reading and knitting done! This made us too late to get to Mary Jo's in Gastonia, so we stayed in Statesville NC. The skies opened up while we were having dinner, so we were happy to be off the highway! Next morning we headed south again in I-77, then made the detour to Mary Jo's. I had my list ready, but picked up several extra's as well. There were several cloth book panels, so I picked up some for my friend's granddaughter. Had lunch in SC, then traveled I-26 to I-95. Had another half hour delay for another accident, driving in varying amounts of rain for most of the day. Stopped at the bottom end of GA for dinner, then decided to head straight for home, 3 1/2 hour away. 5 hours later, we arrived! The 3rd accident delayed us again! At each delay, everything was cleaned up by the time we passed, so never knew what was causing such traffic back-ups! Everything at our home is fine, although with the late rains this fall, we have shoulder-high weeds in the garden! I better go help DH with the battle! The sooner the garden is tidy, the sooner the garden railway is in place, and the sooner I get my sewing room back! (We store all the buildings, etc, in my sewing room over the summer months!) I'm going to mark the newsgroup as "read" so good wishes and healing thoughts to those who need them, and I'll be posting again soon!

Butterfly (I should get the train out--but I'm thinking I will wait until SIL is here--she loves them as much as I do--we'll have a ball with them :)

Good news, Susan! It sounds like you were lucky, given all of those accidents you saw, to have arrived in one piece.
