I read this to my DH. He asked me to read 40 again, then 50. Then he said, "It's amazing that our youngest DGD (an assertive young lady who just turned

8) could have gotten to 50 so quickly.

When I was teaching 9th grade English, I had my kids read "When I Am Old, I Shall Wear Purple," by a wonderful poet whose name has escaped me. I loved it, but could not get them to understand how it expressed the freedom granted by maturity. They were still too tied up in the Ugly Sister/Brother stage. I taught it anyway, hoping that they would remember it later.

I have been noticing that lately more and more of my clothes are purple or have purple in them but 80 is still off in the distant future.

Ok. My cousin wants to know what the male equivalent is, so guys, if you are reading, come up with something. Frank, I especially would like your point of view. :D
