awwwww, Tina, no worrys just yet. however after staying here first two nights, then another night...now we're staying over one more night in the Comfort Suites in Midland and..... the mechanic is having trouble with the engine and theres possibility of them having to find another engine to fix the car. omg.
i do hope you had a lovely Birthday Monday. somewhere on the road from Houston to Ft Stockton i remembered it was your big day and sang outloud.... Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear Tiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Pati will attest to my singing it too, lol.
this trip really is getting sillier by the day. ok for me, another big adventure in life as long as i get to Phx to fly to SFO next Friday and enough time in Phx to make clothes to wear home with all my fabric. eeeeeeeeeeeek. ok, ok, Larisa, i've not forgot i gotta send you a cheque for sending my fabs to me. i hope this isnt gonna break your bank til i can get O-tuit. just letting ya know i've not forgot. will see if i can find an envelope here and get that written out tonight and mail it tomorrow.
what else did i want to write bout here to all RCTQ????? i cant recall what if any, just lett> How dreadfully awful for you both! I am so sorry this has happened. >
well lets see... I was asked by ada if it could be sent to the mag for publication and I said only if I got another quilt in loan in return or I would be very cold this winter as faces is my bed quilt now replacing the covers I had that are not antiallergic (and can't be washed in the washing machine) so now I have the gazillion colours quilt I made last year on my bed for the duration :-D I'm writing the pattern to send in later today as I had to have it ready this week.
remember that leaf quilt I showed you? well I'm remaking that with different leaves as my one used carol doaks leaves and anything that I submit must be my own design so I spent an afternoon making a new leaf that doesn't even remotely remind one of carols one - taking stuff in for show and tell at the guild meeting is getting dangerous! oh an I'm using mainly purplish hues for this second one - I raided the out of stock swatch pile and this was what came out
oh Jess, taht is sooooooo cool. you seem to be moving by leaps and bounds into the design world. i'm so happy for you and proud of you too. i feel as if i've been along for the ride from afar but there none the less thru most of this adventure of yours. its nearly as good as really being there, lol. missing my chats each day with you and the rest of my online chat buddys. Pati just drove over to the dealership to discuss options with them about the car. after our being here since Monday, now its Friday here......the new engine they overnighted down arrived tuesday, without some gaskets so had those sent down arriving on Wed. then the 'one' mechanic kept stopping work on that to work on locals usual needs on their cars so ours kept moving back on the schedule a wee bit and it wasnt behaving. not too sure what was going amiss but something about it smoking out the tailpipe and couldnt figure out exactly why that was happening. cant wait to hear the news bout all this when Pati returns.
so i'm go> well lets see... I was asked by ada if it could be sent to the mag for
thanks :-D man you are having a long wait there! at least they are paying the bill for staying though !
I will be so glad when you are back online as you were - I miss our chats too! watch your email!
(((hugs)))

sounds good anyway - have fun and a safe drive to pati's!
hugs for both of you!
Actually, the deal with the car is this. For some reason, the engine was dry. No warning lights, no sign of leakage, no one can figure out what happened or why it went dry and froze up. First engine went in. Car would drive, but had no "oomph" at all when you hit the accelerator hard. And it was smoking. Mechanic said he would not let me take it out on the road that way.
First 3 nights at the motel, I paid for, and half is to be taken off the bill for the car. 4th night, I paid for, but all is supposed to be taken off the bill for the car. The rental fee on the car we had to use for the time we were in Midland (from the dealership) was waived totally. I am paying for the rental we came home in, and will have until I get my car back. Only other option offered by the dealership was buying a car from them, and getting a loan in order to do so. We cannot afford a loan of any kind, and I didn't want to buy a car there anyway.
The second replacement engine should be in sometime Tues or Wed this week. If all goes well it will be ready to be picked up Fri or Sat. Rick and I will drive over to get it, and since both hotel stays were on my card and such, we qualify for a free night. Which we will make use of and drive back the next day.
Expensive trip home. But it was a great time while in Houston and I am looking forward to returning. ( But probably make the trip in a rental from the beginning.........)
Pati, > thanks :-D
I can hear your wallet wincing but not having to pay it all is better than nothing I suppose :-)
this makes me appreciate our version of the automobiles association we have here even more as they would have done a lot of all these arrangements and gotten us home *fast*
hiya Ms B, in the Phoenix Public Library, dont ask which branch. just asked man next to me. its the Cholla Branch. hope that is close enough. i'm staying in the Premier Inns across the road from the Sheraton Hotel which has the library behind it. if all that means anything to you. uh oh, room #? uhhhhhh. well, if you get a chance and can call me there, they can figure out what room i'm in. got into the room around 5:30 last night. had some food with me, enough to get me thru that evening anyhow. had donuts and coffee this a.m....their 'continental breakfast'...sure ok, what continent is that i wonder, lol. then crossed to the Sheraton Hotel to check with them the location of the Library but had a seat in their lobby/tv room for a while, then used their customer free puter to email a bit.
anyhow, can we do lunch > Having had the privilege of meeting both of them (Jeanne stayed with us on
hey Pati, ltns, lol. had a good night at the Premier Inn. got a wee box of laundry soap and washed out the jeans, track pants (both hanging over the tub now) and a couple of smaller items last night. will do more tonight probably. did have enough food to get thru the night. coffee/donuts today. then across to use Sheraton Hotel puter and now here for another 25mins, type faster jeanne, lol.
have to figure out trip to airport on friday, then i can book the flight online here. they let me use puter here in library for only an hour each day,oh well, tomorrow it must be then. or back to use the one at the Sheraton, lol.
i checked thru all my sewing stuff and i dont have any hand sewing needles,i wonder of i can sew by hand with a machine needle, got a mess of those, lol. i need as much time sewing as i can to get done all the stuff i need to make from all the excess fabs all the quilters in usa 'forced' me to buy. :)) oh well, the trials and tribulations of being a fabric addict,eh. iirc, room # is 2062....but pays to ask when you get a chance to call. unless i already missed the call today.might wander over to the mall for some food when i leave here.
20 mins left on here. hmmmmmore fabs than i thot i had, oh well, sewsewsew, lol. oh oh,must get some envelopes to mail off some of the fabs i got to various places. i got letter/cheque off to Larisa (mailed from El Paso, i think it was, on Friday i think) which should arrive there tomorrow i hope. need to get to bank this week too. oh dear me. more to do but brain is again full of too much to recall atm. oh well, eh. i love that phrase. will get on here again from Sheraton either later today and/or again tomorrow. hugz to all my RCTQ Buddys, jeanne
