OT: Cheeto is Packed & Ready to GO!

Well, Cheeto has packed up all of his stuff and is almost ready to bug outta here and head for his new, forever home. Of course, that's assuming he & Aspen, the GranDOGhter get alone reasonably well. I'm sure that Aspen won't have a problem but who knows what The Kitten from Hell will do when he sees a dog for the first time! All FOUR of his cat houses are folded up and packed along with the bag of catnip and the package of furry mice. I've packed one of the pieces of fleece thast I have around the house for the casts to sleep on so he will have some cat step-sister smells to keep him company on the trip and when he gets to Lizard Land. We went to PetSmart today to buy him some new foam balls and a fuzzy catnip bunny! He LOVES the foam balls because he can pick them up in his mouth and carry them around the house. And they bounce really high too!!! All of the other toys are packed up because the three girls don't ever play with them and they are covered in boy cat spit by now anyway. We'll have to stop at PetSmart again when we get to Lizard Land and buy him a new scratching post and some dry and canned food, too. VBS -- I told DH it's likely going to cost us another $50 to get rid of the brat cat once and for all!! He's MIA right now. I'm sure he knows something strange is happening because all of his toys and houses, etc. are gone. Poor little guy is probably wondering what he's done wrong! He's down sleeping with DH on the sofa right now. I suppose I had best go down and sit in my big recliner and let him have a bit of a rest on top of the blankie between my feet for the last time. I hope he doesn't make DD too crazy or she'll be wanting me to bring him back with us when we are there in May!!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Such a silly reminder - but do be sure to pack some bottled water for that precious Cheeto. I don't know how long your trip is - but you certainly want to keep that dear little happy cat's tummy comfortable. Yogi likes his traveling water at room temperature - not an easy task - but possible. We look forward to hearing about Cheeto's Christmas. Polly

NOPE -- no food or water for His Royal Highness! There's no where for him to go potty and I don't want him to be holding it for the 9 or so hours it takes to get from my house to DD's! I feel so bad for the kitties to have to be cooped up that long but there's not a thing to be done about it! Of course, the FIRST thing he will get at DD's is a BIG bowl of water and some food & the litter box. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Do you take all your kitties with you when you travel back and forth? Do they tolerate travel well? The only time I traveled with a kitty was from Texas to Phoenix, arriving on the first day of 1981. We left Waco in a freezing rain and by the time we left El Paso the next morning it was almost 75. I had no A/C in my little car and poor kitty had a heat stroke somewhere outside Tucson. I found an emergency vet who would see him and paid my last $300 cash to have him treated with IV fluid and a shot of something. The rest of the trip was short, but by Phoenix it was mid-80s and we were all really hot and kitty was so miserable. Since then I just cringe when I think of traveling with a kitty. I know you obviously have better traveling arrangements. Still ..... I hope your little guys handle the trip well.

DD's cat can survive about 10 minutes before he's car-sick, and then the other end goes too. So a change of blanket for the cat carrier might be a good idea just in case. Stress can do rotten things to a little tummy. It might make him de-hydrated so perhaps a bottle of water just in case might be a good idea?

One of my previous cats was allergic to Shropshire - whether we were travelling to or from my parents that was always where he would be sick!

Cheeto made the trip with nary a probloem. He cried a bit in the car on the way to MARTA (the train to the airport). Once on the train, he never made another sound. No accidents in the carrier either so that was good news. I have posted a long bit about his introduction to DD's home and family and everything the little scamp did! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
