OT: GRRRRRR Thursday Update

Best laid plans.... planned to finally be able to sew. Son is getting picked up by his father around 11 to spend Christmas Eve with Stepmother's family. With him out of my living room, I can try to work on the blood stain again and move the sewing machine in there to sew in front of the TV. Dad came home from the hospital around noon yesterday.

4am phone rings--- please, please, please let it be a wrong number. NO! Mom is in tears, they are taking Dad back to the hospital. His legs are really swollen and he hurts (this from a man who ignored a hernia for ages because he has such a high pain thrushhold). I get dressed, leave note for son where I am and head out to the hospital to meet Mom. I arrive first, check with the gal at the desk so I can go back to see Dad and she tells me that he is not there yet. WHAT????? Why is it taking so long for him to arrive?? Mom arrives, is stunned when I said Dad had not arrived yet. She talks to a nurse, saying that the ambulance left her hour 45 minutes earlier, so why is he not there? They were told to go to this particular hospital since Dad was just released from this hospital and this is where is doctor works out of. The hospital called the other hospital to see if Dad was there. YUP, they took him to the wrong hospital. Mom was hysterical so I drove back to the other hospital and when we went back to see Dad he had no idea he was in the wrong hospital.

After running a bunch of tests and giving him lasix (and a lot of it) the ER doctor talked to Dad's doctor. Dad's doctor said that if Mom could take care of Dad he could go home, that he would need to be transferred only if it was what Mom and Dad wanted since there is not much more they can do in the hospital that can't be done at home. This is all the kidney stuff and they won't start the meds until later today since they do not have the written report from the pathologist at Cedars-Sinai.

Drove Mom back to the first hospital so she could get her car, went with her to get gas since she does not know how to pump her own gas, and then I went back to their house while Mom went back to the hospital to get Dad. Once we got Dad into the house and settled, I came home to be with DS since his GF wants to drop by for a few minutes and give him her Christmas Gift.

Hopefully, this is the update for the day and there won't be anything new. I am going to go back to bed, later I will shower, and then ATTEMPT to sew. (Since I mentioned sewing several times, I guess this not really totally off topic).

I sure hope that things will settle down so yo u can relax and enjoy Christmas! I have a friend who an not pump his own gas-----he used to do this. We live in a small town so I went searching and finally found a small Mom & Pop gas station that will pump gas & clean the windshield. Now my friend can go get gas himself. Barbara in FL

I realize that on a scale of 1 to 10 that it's just not very important right now - but I'm just very surprised that the carpet folks couldn't remove something as simple as blood. Usually just cold water will do the deed. Sometime . . . when you can - try blotting it with plain old first-aid peroxide - not the violent stuff used to make ladies naturally blonde - just the mild stuff. It's always worked for me - may take 2 or 3 tries. Polly

Debbi, that just so sucks! I'm sorry. Hopefully, when they get your dad's new meds started, everything will calm down.
