OT HUMOUR (inoffensive) MURPHY'S LESSER KNOWN LAWS

For those who need a bit of a giggle to start or end the day -

· Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

· He who laughs last, thinks slowest.

· Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

· Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't.

· Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

· The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90 percent probability you'll get it wrong.

· If you lined up all the cars in the world end to end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them, five or six at a time, on a hill, in the fog.

· If the shoe fits, get another one just like it.

· The things that come to those who wait will be the things left over by those who got there first.

· Flashlight: A case for holding dead batteries.

· The shin bone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.

· A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

· When you go into court, you are putting yourself in the hands of twelve people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty.--

Yep, good one. My favorite, number 1 and 5. Yep, I've experienced those! Thanks for the laugh!

Yep - BTDT, got the tee.

Have you read all the Murphy books? I have three - all Murphy laws, corollaries, tenets, rules, etc. A real hoot. There are over 300 in the collection now I think.

My all time favourite - (I think it's titled) the Inverse Peter Principle. People are promoted to the point where the number of people working for them is sufficient to absorb their level of inefficiency.

Although the Septic Tank Theory of Management and Promotion is a close second.

Please state the Septic Tank Theory. DH works at a waste water treatment plant and I'm sure the theory would fit the place perfectly. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Cheryl,

What are the titles of the Murphy's Laws books that you have? Looked on Amazon - there are lots of them! A History of Murphy's Law by Nick T Sparks sure looks interesting. I searched for it in libraries around me - none of them have it.

The ones I have (and cannot locate ATM) were by Arthur Bloch. They are about 25+ years old now lol and they were only little paperbacks when I bought them for a couple of dollars each. There were two listed at Amazon by Bloch from about 1978 and 1980 - they would be two of the ones I have. But maybe the anniversary edition would have a complete list in one volume.

I used them all the time when I was writing and presenting training courses.

Thanks. Very funny and true in more than one way at DH's workplace. Debra in VA See my quilts at
