OT - I'm thankful

I'm thankful I have this group. There is a wealth of experience and information here, and I'm glad I can draw on it whenever I need to, even in the middle of my night! This group kept me connected to the quilting community when my children were very young, and seemed to be connected to me

24/7!

I'm thankful for the friends I have made here. Some I have met in person, some I correspond with daily, but have never met. I can boast that I "know" people all over the world!

I'm thankful for the creativity and talent that I can find browsing through websites. I often got to my RCTQ bookmarked sites first, when I need to be inspired.

I'm even thankful for "disagreements" that come up here, because they remind me that it takes all sorts of people to make this forum. Just as there are all sorts of quilts, there are all sorts of quilters.

So true Wendy! Even the "disagreements" part - makes seem more like REAL family! If everybody got along perfectly all the time, it would seem insincere and artificial.

I am thankful for my health, and my families health. I'm not looking at the possibility of a hospital visit this year, like has been the case so many years around Thanksgiving/Holidays.

I am thankful for my home, at a time when so many are without homes right now.

I am thankful for the freedom to pursue my dreams and interests - I have a husband, family and friends now that are supportive of me and not interested in tearing me down to build themself up.

I am thankful for this life. I was given this as a chance to learn and grow and love - then I was even given a second chance, to start over and make it even better than before.

And, I am thankful for Wendy (and all my RCTQ friends). She's been a wonderful inspiration and motivator, a great supporter and a beautiful person to get to know.

Hugs, Tina, and thanks for your post too Wendy!

And I'm thankful that you wrote this, Wendy! It's all so true. Members of this group are always right there when we need support and help, as well as when we just need a cheer or happy dance. I'm so thankful for that! Some of you may remember that I used to live in a very out-of-the-way area with no LQS, no quilters near by, no support for my quilting. Without this wonderful place to visit, I'd probably have given up and quit quilting. I'm so thankful that I had this place to come to!

I've made some wonderful friends here. I've met several face to face, and others remain on the other end of an internet link. They're all dear to me, and I'm thankful to have them.

Like Wendy, I'm also thankful for our disagreements here -- though while they're going on, it's a bit more difficult to remember to be thankful. Without those disagreements, we'd never open ourselves to new ideas. As long as we can get past the disagreements -- which we've done so well!

-- this is just a part of life and dealing with each other.

I'm also thankful for my DH, who doesn't really have a clue about my quilting but who never fails to admire what I make. He encourages my trips to quilt camp and to Houston -- a major item, since we're retired and on a fixed income. Besides, we never used to go away separately, so this was a *big* change in thinking for us.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

We're having quite a time of it here in Katrina's remains hunting whatever it is we think we've just got to have for a Thanksgiving dinner. Our Kate T over on the other side of Mississippi was groaning about no cranberry anything to be found. I've been grimly determined to find a turkey breast. I didn't want a 22 pound Tom, didn't want a smoked, fried, or wild game free-range organically hand-fed $125 per pound bird - just a turkey breast. Alas and alack. None to be found. I was just telling Kate, and got so tickled with myself I thought I'd share this with you. The only turkey available is a big old bird and frozen solid as a rock. I mentioned to Kate that I'd seen Julia Child slice a turkey in half with a chain saw. And I do remember that you're supposed to remove the sacks of stuff from both ends. Then, I admitted that I just don't remember much about fowl play. Bwaaaaa-h-a-ha- ha. Polly
