OT It's raining here . . . . .

. . . . . the rain forecast for last night arrived this evening. Words cannot describe how happy everyone is to see even this little bit of rain, and more is forecast for next week. There have been good falls west of us too.

Aahhhh! The lovely sound of pit-pat on the roof!!

It's raining a bit up here as well, and about 16C outside. Autmun has finally arrived.

My parents took me and DS out to Dubbo to see Western Plains Zoo early this week, quick trip left here Monday morning got back Wednesday night. It's very dry out there.

Unfortunately, no rain at Crib Point and I am so disappointed.

Di - trust me, it's on the way. We were supposed to get rain last night and not a drop. But it has been raining here steadily for at least 4 hours now. This rain front is moving VERY slowly.

Such good news. So glad to hear that you all are getting a really fine rain. All you need now is a Yorkie to stomp around in the mud puddles and roll in the glorious wet. There's probably a chart somewhere - but you just can't imagine how much rain a furry little Yorkie can carry. Polly

Congrats, Cheryl! I'm so glad you folks are getting moisture again. When you've had enough, would you send a bit up to the desert southwest of the US? But not till I have gotten my mum's roof patched.

leaping gracefully across a paddock of freshly mown grass (this was last year when we still had grass of course) . . . . . . leap . . . . . leap . . . . . . . leap . . . . . . SPLOSH!!! (sound of said sleek and elegant cat dropping 8" into an unseen wheel rut full of muddy water!!) Poor Baby, he had quite a battle to drag himself out of the mud and stagger the 50m to home. He was so embarrassed that he evaded his waiting momma (and the towell she wanted to clean him up with) and raced straight to his favourite bath spot. Yep - you guessed it! One of my best arm chairs!!

There is a reason I call him Boofhead!

Wonderful, Cheryl! :) We could really use some, too. Our fire season is just starting, and they're already predicting a bad one that will extend into the winter -- which is *very* unusual. :(

Know what you mean. It is late autumn here and we had a fire outbreak yesterday. Not much danger of that tomorrow though - VBG - as it has rained for the past 8 hours!!

Phew! Must have had some rain last night as the ground was wet when I went to the newsagent but there is nothing at the moment. Just hope and pray that the wet stuff is falling in the catchment areas.

He is so well trained. He went straight to his bath without being told. :>)

I know what you mean - it has given up raining here as well! What happened to April showers?

The weather man this evening said it had been the warmest April on record and the records go back 300 years! Our grass is already looking unhappy - last year it went completely brown, but not until about July. We have sandy soil and its just like dust. Kiwi is the only cat who hasn't come in looking as though he's been in a dust storm - the other two keep rolling in it, and their white is now brown. No doubt he rolls too, but being black it doesn't show.

Everyone seems to have put their summer annual flowers in already - except me, and I'm way too cautious! I wonder if the shops will have any left when I get round to it.

Finally!!! I know the rain is welcome relief in your part of the world. And yes, it does make a lovely sound on the roof, whether you want the rain or not. Happy for all the Aussie's!

You can have some of ours! I live in Lumberton, NJ where the floods of 2004 were thought to be the thousand year flood. We found out this week that it wasn't! Some folks just got finished rebuilding or repairing their homes from the last flood and here we go again with flooded streets with knee deep water. I live on higher ground so we only had a wet basement, but the flooded areas were blocked so all the traffic that normally used those roads now had to travel though our area. Traffic jams were the norm for a week, sometimes waiting long periods to get through intersections. Now my 1 hour commute took 2 hours or more to get to work. But at least I still had my home intact and 70 families were not so lucky.

I hope those that need the rain get the rain you need! Seems like feast or famine these days.
