OT: minor surgery

I am going in to the hospital tomorrow, for some minor Arthroscopy surgery to repair a Meniscus tear to my right knee. The weird thing is that the injury happened about 16 years ago. I just blew it off, at the time, and thought I just "twisted my knee". Got a Cortisone shot and went on with my life. The knee "bothered me", from time to time, but I thought I was probably just "getting old", and blew it off again. In the last three months, it has been worse and I finally was sent to the hospital by my Physician, and had an MRI, to find out just what was going on in there. The answer, slightly torn Medial Meniscus. So in I go, to get lots of dope and have my sports med doctor carve on my knee. Lois will be mopping my fevered brow for a couple of days, and then it is back to pumping the treadle, as therapy. It is strange how something that happened so long ago can manifest itself now. As soon as I get out of the hospital for that, I will be going in again, in three days, for a "delicate guy type procedure", that I really don't feel it is proper to discuss, within the confines of this group. Most guys, of a certain age, seem to get to come to grips with this problem, if you know what I mean, so now is my time, it seems. This is my month of living medically it would seem. The good thing is that none of this stuff is life threatening. So, wish me luck. John

John, Wishing you the very best of luck!! Me mom is undergoing PT (suggested by her neurologist (she's 86) & seems to be helping. She has beenwheelchair bound for many years. She has to be doped up now a days. Her mind is not as it was. (This is just my unbiased not so medical opinion!) We ( my sibs & I ) were afraid to moniver her too much causing her harm. The wonderful PT says she is very strong!! Happy Christmas! Hope you have a wonderful pain free New Year!! Lois is your elf!! Nana

I am back from the first surgery, and in a pain med fog, but everything went well. It seemed that when he got inside of the knee he discovered a larger bit of damage, than was shown by the MRI. He did say he was able to clean it up and his prognosis is for complete recovery with a bit longer recovery time than was first thought, based on the MRI. I now am going to head back to my throne, and call the body slave to task and have her bring me all sorts of sweets and other indulgences, to rectify years of neglect. Or maybe not, as I can hardly claim neglect from so wonderful a nurse. "Another Pain Pill Please", he said with a salacious grin. Night all, John

I do, the very best.

For the knee to manifest so long after the original incident is, I understand, normal. One day their may have to screw my kneecaps back on and replace a hip... Spare part surgery!

And the guy stuff: ouchy but, as you say, not a major procedure these days. Take care: they will take more out of you than you expect, coming so close together.

Too bad we're so far apart..we could commiserate a bit better if we were closer.

Hope your Christmas is pain free. Butterfly
