OT: Polly Ester

Hi Guys, I have been very worried about Polly and wondering just ^what^ could be done to get info. My friend who lives in New Orleans is out of the city and safe. I had posted to her newsgroups for her so I have been checking them for any additional info. Someone posted this link where there is info on people --

. Anyway, I went to look for Polly but she's not there so I took it upon myself to enter her info. I went to the RCTQ directory for her real name and street addy. I even looked in the online phone book for a number so that I could try to call her but there are no listings for anyone with the same last name on her street. VBS -- I wish I was more adept at manipulating the Internet Information highway!!! Being as I am not, one of my friends over at RCTN says she has some contacts who ARE adept and maybe they can help. Needless to say, I will post if I get ANY info at all. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Hi Again, OK, I "talked" with my friend and she gave me some specific sites to check and more info. She has friends who live in Pascagoula and managed to speak with them. They say that the shoreline is trashed but most of the residential areas inland are "relatively" OK. I entered info about Polly Ester at another website

. I tried the SunHerald too but the site won't let me do anything :-(! I went to mapquest and got a map for Polly's area. She lives by the Black Creek Cooling Pond. This is north of I-10 and in between Hwy 63 on the west and Hwy 613 (I think) on the east. This is obviously no where near the ocean so she is hopefully OK. I also Googled Moss Point, MS and got a map there too. Hopefully, someone will post to one of my queries about Polly -- if so, I will let everyone know. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Thanks so much for all this research, Mary. Polly teased me when I suggested she start digging a shelter, by telling me that their water table is only about 18" below the surface. So I worried about flooding, if they are so low-lying. But, hopefully, that hasn't happened. We'll just wait and hope for the best. Thanks again for this. . In message , Tia Mary writes

Hm... I think Polly needs an ark rather than a shelter! Lets just keep hoping she's safe and we get news soon. Well done Tia Mary for doing all this looking.

I've been worried about Polly, too, as so many others here have. Thanks, Mary, for giving some hope as to her safety. Keep us updated.

She did say they would 'get out' if they felt it was necessary. I'm hoping this is what she did. Her kidlets were to stay with them.

I imagine that Polly left. She lives in Pascagoula, and it was hit pretty hard. Senator Trent Lott's home is in Pascagoula, and it was destroyed. DH & I use to spend the night in Pascagoula if we took that route going to Florida. The Holiday Inn where we stayed was surrounded by water earlier this week. One report I read, said the water had briefly reached the second floor.

OK everyone -- we just have to insist that, if any of us are caught in this type of situation again and we make it out safely, we simply MUST find a town with a cyber-cafe and get online and post so we know you are safe!! DH gave me the same argument about Polly being without a computer, electricity, etc. and that made me think about finding a cyber-cafe :-)! I know -- Polly has more important things to worry about than finding a town with electricity AND a cyber cafe but it sure would be nice to know *where* she is!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I think most of us think we wouldn't be missed........I think this has pointed out to all of us that each and everyone of is cared about and worried about by this great bunch of quilters who post here. And absolutely...if any of us are ever in this type of situation.....we must remember to find a computer and check in!
