Ping Polly!

We haven't heard from Polly for a couple days have we? It looks like her neck of the woods has been pounded with severe weather for the last couple of days. And they are in for more today. I hope all is well.

Hopefully it is just power cuts, due to the weather? I hope we hear soon.

Take care all of you in the firing line of the bad weather. . In message , KJ writes

I emailed her, and no response, which is highly unusual!! I sure hope our Polly is OK.

I did too. They may have a power outage. At least for the time being, it appears the severe weather has moved out of her area. I hope those in the new path prepare for lots of rain and wind. We are supposed to get rain, ice and snow later this afternoon. goodie!

Here we are. DH's sister died and we had to travel in tornado weather about

400 miles. There was a tornado just ahead of us and after we left, one touched down close to our home. Our rain gauges says 6" plus - before it spilled over. The weather was so bad here at home that our loved ones say they all got out of bed and got fully dressed. Decided if they were going to blow away, they wanted to have a little dignity. We had sunshine all the way. Sister had suffered Alzheimer's for about 10 years. All of us had suffered her illness with her. It hurts so badly when a loved one is happy to see you but doesn't know you from the Avon lady. Some of the kith and kin at the funeral were from Saltillo MS where I've told you about the Stork Attack and the needs of 80 incoming babies. They have promised to send a quilt and avoid the drinking water. Thank you so much for your concern. It is good to be home. Polly

It's not that we have you on a tether and you aren't allowed to wander the countryside unescorted. But your local weather looked so ugly that we were concerned when you weren't online. Glad you are home.

We HAD to leave the Yorkie with DD and DSIL and their furry guys. We sent Yogi's crate and blankie along, of course. During the bad weather, DD went with flashlight around their house on a Yorkie survey. All three furry faces were squeezed in Yogi's crate; snuggled up good and tight and fast asleep. Don't know if that was 'misery loves company' or 'safety in numbers'. DH and I traveled past by a community where the church was planning to celebrate their 100th anniversary tomorrow. Tornado removed the church building. Celebration will take place as scheduled - in the parking lot. And to be on topic. Yogi has picked out a safe napping spot beneath my

1950 Singer cabinet. It is a hefty and low to the floor piece of furniture. Supports a 301 and a serger. "Good shelter", thinks Yogi. Polly

Cookies are good! I'll be right over. Got milk? And I'm bringing a stack of green, because no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to make a dent in it. Sheesh!

I love the mental picture a a crate full of sleeping Yorkies. It sounds like such a cozy place to be when the weather is stormy. I think the Singer cabinet for my 401 would be a safe napping spot too. Send Yogi over to inspect.

So good to hear from you, Polly; but sorry that it was sad 'duties' that kept you away. Your SIL is now at peace and relieved of her wonky mind. The weather sounds frightening. I hope the worst of it has now passed. . In message , Polly Esther writes

Polly, I'm sorry for your loss -- though I'm sure it was a release of sorts for all of you. Alzheimer's is such a wicked disease.

Polly, I just loved reading about Yogi and the other two Yorkies huddled together in one crate fast asleep. I just got another fur baby...she is a four year old Cairn Terrier and her name is Taffy. So that makes two inside doggies, two inside kitties and one outside kitty. When I got Corki (our Corgi-weiner mix) I went out and bought a crate large enough for him to stand in and turn around, then when I got the two female kitties I bought another smaller crate for the two of them....although they've never been in it (or at least I've never put them in there), however both Corki and Taffy have been in it and when I can't find them, at least one of them is snoozing in there!

Sorry to hear about your DS-in-law's passing and the dreaded disease that stole precious memories from her. Launie, in Oregon

So glad that you are fine, Miz Polly!! So sorry for your loss. My father had Alzheimer's and passed away in 2005. Alzheimer's steals from the one who has it and from all who know and love them.
