OT Polly, Question about Spiders

Polly, did you ever get rid of your spiders? Just wanted to say that mine seemed to like Irish Spring. And I was just getting used to the smell! I found another one of the little ones a few minutes ago. I think I will try Lemon Pledge today after I go to the store. Barbara in SC

Val's suggestion of Lemon Pledge seems to be working quite well. I waxed the window sill and facing where they wanted to homestead and haven't seen any spiders or festive decorations. Plain old rubbing alcohol removes Lemon Pledge from windows. A whop with a houseshoe is faster. And furthermore, the ants must have passed the word around. None have sought shelter inside since I put a few bay leaves in their path. The next question - what do you do with a whiney DH? Mine wants to go outside and paint the front door. It is raining. It is going to be raining for the next 2 months. I guess I could bring the door inside. Other than that? Polly

If your DH REALLY wants to paint he is welcome to come to my house for at least a week.!. He could paint doors, walls, just about anything he wants to paint. We haven't had rain in ages, and I have an extra bedroom. Just when would you want him back? I gotta go get some Lemon Pledge! Barbara in SC

Yes, I just saw Dr. Gott. Putting lead in quilts is a puzzle; can't figure out how to do it. Polly

Take the door off its hinges and take it into the workshop. Paint it there first thing in the morning - one coat a day, putting it back in the evening! . In message , Polly Esther writes

Pat, my dear friend, you are so logical! You always amaze me cuz my mind goes off on wild exotic tangents of trying to figure something out and making it so difficult.... and then you come up with a brilliantly simple idea! Now how do I keep The HairyButt Gang inside the house while I'm painting that door??? VBG

Tape up a piece of black polythene to the door frame (you'll have to paint the door frame anyway once the door is re-done). You can go out through the garage; and the dogs can go out of their dog door, when you want them too. I say black polythene, as if it were clear, and they could see outside, they might try to push their way through - or run up to it and not be able to stop. . I'm more concerned with how to keep critters out. Polly

Well, you could do the polythene thing, too, then >g< . In message , Polly Esther writes

Maybe we should start a DH Swap, send them around to do the things they like/want to do. Remember Miz Sairey always asking if a DH or DBF was "for rent"?

Thanks Sandy. We had a big end of summer family get together yesterday and boy are we all beat! Great family day. 30 or so people. Only gripe was the heat. Heck it was only 104 or so. They do swim when it is that hot! DS came up for the weekend and was nice. We usually wait to do a getaway few days in October after the weather has cooled down. On to 29 I guess. Why mess with what works : ) Taria
