OT Prayer request

My sis had her baby prematurely early Saturday morning. Little Delilah Rose is 3 pounds 9 ounces and is, so far, doing fine (as is mama). My sis has requested prayers for the baby's continued health. Any little thoughts help, and the whole family would greatly appreciate it.

I've got candles going round the clock for this little one. She's so tiny but perfect in every way. We've just got to get her healthy enough to go home now.

Thanks, all!

Anastasia,

Best wishes and positive thoughts for Delilah Rose. Our twin nephews were delivered at 1.5 and 2.5 pounds respectively. Both are doing great and will be 3 years old in July. It will take a little bit of time but Delilah will do just as well.

Welcome sweet Delilah Rose, what a precious name. Has Aunt Anastasia made her a quilt yet? Polly

So I say,

Yikes! Um.....well, no. (To be honest, the thought hadn't even entered my mind! How awful is that!?!)

I'm midway through a thesis at the moment and will be hard-pressed to find time for it, but I'll see if I can't squeeze some in. Shouldn't be that hard to find time, right? Heh heh. Wouldn't want to be an awful Auntie Anastasia now, would I?

Aunt Anastasia is quite a mouthful. She'll probably call you something else and you will love it. A quilt for a preemie darling need not be a major undertaking. They can be quite small - 24" square is plenty - and they like bright colors to interest those 'learning to focus' beautiful eyes. You can make Delilah a bigger one when the thesis is down and done. Good to hear that they are both doing well Anastasia, but I expected as much. When DD was born (18 years ago) at 29 weeks weighing 1lb 10 oz the nurses in ICU all said girls are much better 'fighters' than girls.

It is suprising how many people have had or know 'prems'

I can't remember whether it's 1in7, or 7% that's about the rate of prem babies. It seems one of those areas where little progress is being made on why it happens, or preventing it. I think it may even be increasing. But with those numbers, it is going to be something you come across fairly frequently. On my table of 9 ladies at bible study, their are two who have had premature twins, all are fine now. We had a scare ourselves with our first, made it to full term, but with growth issues, the baby in the next bed at the hospital was 5lb bigger!

Congrats Auntie! Glad to hear they are both doing so good. I will keep that precious tiny little one in my prayers - that things continue to go better than expected and she grows healthy enough to go home soon.

Anastasia: Finish the thesis first, so you can ENJOY the quilt making process! It is bound to be even prettier that way. Sttress does not produce attractive quilts, IMO.

Meantime, I am praying that little Delilah thrives and soon joins her family at home.
