OT Scraps update

First I need to thank everyone who suggested foods to try to get Scraps to eat and drink. The refrigerator is filled with little containers covered with foil. The food Scraps loved the most was the rotisserie chicken. Alas, she didn't eat enough and then, she stopped eating altogether.

My sweet husband and I took her to the vets for the last time tonight. We had been in touch with the vet all week and finally decided that there was nothing else we could do except save her from the pending suffering she would surely experience in the coming days. We went to the vets today with the highest hopes that there was still something we could do for her. But, the doctor said with all the tests we could put her through, the outcome would most likely not be good. We would know what was causing her distress but most likely, it would not be something that we could resolve. Knowing that, we did not want to put her through all the tests that it would take to get to that point. So we needed to make the ultimate decision once again. This was 9 months to the day we needed to help Paisley cross the bridge. It didn't hurt any less. We held her until she was gone. She looked at us as if to say "it's ok, it will be alright now". At least now we know she won't suffer anymore. She was such a sweet, sweet little critter and she will be missed.

Your kindness and support in her regards will never be forgotten.

And it's a fine act of love you've done, Alice, to let that dear kitty go gently. We know you are hurting and will continue to, but Scraps thanks you. So very sorry. Sending hugs and hurting along with you, Polly

Alice, I know you're hurting now, but I know Scraps loves you all the more for being so kind. It was a tough decision that you made - one that we all hate to make - but one that showed your love for you furbaby. Hugs to you and DH tonight.

So sorry for your loss Alice.

You can be sure that Paisley was there to greet her though. She will be in fine hands and she will not hurt anymore. :)

(((((((( Alice ))))))))) You are a good, kind and brave friend to your pets, loving them every day oftheir lives and giving them every single thing they need, including a painless and graceful exit. Who could ask for more?

I hope you can remember Scraps with joy.

Hugs, Sunny (and Jojo and Angus, who is swiftly approaching the bridge himself)

It never gets easier but those who truly love will always find the strength for this final gift for their beloved pets.

Alice, I'm so sorry for your loss and am shedding a tear with you. My fur babies say mow...yep...that was a mow, not meow. For some reason, Olive (my calico baby) doesn't quite meow. Skittles, my male fur baby meows and likes to bump up against me when he can. I love my fur babies and know how much they would be missed when their time comes. With gentle hugs, Launie, in Oregon

Oh Alice, I'm so sorry it had to come to this. I know, it hurts every single time. Keeping rabbits, with their much shorter life-expectancy, I have to go through it quite often; and it never, ever gets easier. Our pets do seem to know and understand. I hope little Kirby helps you get over the worst of the hurt. You tried everything you could; so, at least, no regrets. Take care, . In message , AliceW writes

Alice, my sincere condolences on the lost of your beloved Scraps. You were wonderful caregivers for her, and gave her a fantastic life. When the time came, the decision you made was out of love. Losing a pet is so difficult, yet where would we be without them, they give us so much.

Oh, Alice, I am so sorry. I've been down this road more times than I like to think about. It never does get easy. The little fur faces just always burrow their way into your heart and soul. When their time comes to leave, a piece of you goes with them. The nice thing is that a piece of them stays with you.

My sympathy,

Rita L.

Alice, So sorry for your loss. As many others have said, it's a brave decision that we have to make when we love our fur children as we do and it never gets any easier. Our hearts are with you.
