OT: Sending good thoughts to those in Hurr.Katrina's path

This Hurricane sounds frightening. Sending our thoughts and prayers to all our quilting friends in the region. Stay safe. Let's hope NOLA does not bear the brunt of this one. Worried, Bronnie Oz

It's looking like it will. It looks pretty darn catastrophic. Experts are expecting 60-80 percent of the homes will be destroyed by wind.

Then there's the flooding: "When Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans on Monday, it could turn one of America's most charming cities into a vast cesspool tainted with toxic chemicals, human waste and even coffins released by floodwaters from the city's legendary cemeteries."

I grew up there. My parents live in Algiers, across the river an a couple miles downstream. They evacuated Saturday as soon as they saw it was coming strong their way, loading up pictures, documents, etc. and heading for my brother's house in TN. I hope the house is intact when the get back. I'll really miss it if it's not.

The news broadcast says it's to be one of the 4-5 worst hurricanes in our history. My fingers are crossed....

I shall find the CNN channel and check in there during the day. The 'numbers' alone sound dreadful. The actuality must be beyond belief. Praying hard here all day. . In message , Bronnie writes

Lee's 11 yo dd (my emotionally adopted dd ;) ) lives just outside of New Orleans now. They have evacuated to Little Rock, AK. She JUST called to say they are safe and tired.
