Ty is safely in Afghanistan now. I was worried about the effect of the flight on his lung, but aside from being short of breath because of the altitude, he is okay. So far he knows that he will be staying at Bagram near the hospital until all of his open wounds are closed, then he thinks he will go back to the same base he was at before. All of the Marines he has met so far, took care of him the first time he was there, and none of them can believe that he is back. The officers, too, have said that it was not their recommendation, so I believe now we are officially blaming the doctors.
One thing that makes me so very happy, is that Tyler's statement was taken, and added to the officer's recommendation that HM3 Figaroa receive the Silver Star along with the other medic who did the same for the other wounded marine. Sometimes, they get it right.
