Please forgive me, those whose blocks have not been acknowledged or posted. Friday I dropped all projects, wiping my table clear to make blankies for Katrina victims. Those blankies will be shipped to Houston, and Tyler's quilt to a longarmer on Tuesday.

There are a number of blocks remaining. Shall we take a consensus? Use the blocks for another Quilt of Valor for an anonymous wounded service member or use them for the next Hug request? Please suggest any other possible uses for the blocks.

I cannot say how gratifying it has been to work on this quilt. Thank you all for giving me this honor.

Sincerely,

Susan Freeman aka Betsy Ross

I thought the deadline for blocks was September 10th! Did that get changed?

Had the impression they would be made into a Hug for the fella that saved Tyler's life.

I vote for an anonymous soldier, or maybe a HUG for the young man that saved Tyler? (I'm sorry, his name escapes me now)

Susan, Thank you so much for allowing me to partipate in this. The honor is all mine and your finished top is beautiful. I vote for the man who covered Tyler for the extra blocks but any service member would love it.

If you would like another center block let me know and I will get one out Tue. or Wed. I too am in the process of binding fleece blankets to go to shelters in the South but will make time.

I noticed that you didn't use either my block or the block I sent in Sallys name. My block was one of the first received by you - so it wasn't late. Was there something wrong with the blocks I sent? I thought both were well made and within the color selection. I admit that my feelings are a little hurt but want to know if I did something wrong and why mine weren't chosen. I would rather you send my block back to me if it isn't good enough but do keep the block I sent in Sally's name and do what ever you want with it. I will use my block for someone else's hug quilt. I make my own quilts to send to servicemen.

It's FM3 Figaroa. I was afraid he wouldn't get a quilt so I made one and sent it directly to him from all of us. I just wrote RCTQ Quilters on the label as the giver.

There was nothing wrong with any blocks nor was the time set passed. I had more than enough blocks to make a large quilt and wanted to be able to get the quilt to Tyler ASAP. I am hoping he will not be redeployed to Afghanistan, but if that must happen, I am trying to get the quilt to him while he is in the US.

I do not have the resources to make a Hug for Mr. Figaroa. Reading the posts I notice that one has already been sent. We are all so appreciative that Snigs did this and gave us all credit.

Tyler was special to us because his mom is one of us. But there are thousands more Tylers special to their own. Using the remaining blocks for another Quilt of Valor spreads the honor we give Tyler by honoring another wounded service person in his name. I was not blessed with children so I know I can never really feel the connection parents have to their sons and daughters. But I can be part of that "village" that loves and cares for all our young men and women.

Please understand that not every block submitted could possibly be used in one quilt, at least not one that could be lifted! The bottom righthand 6" block says "This Quilt of Valor was made with love for Tyler by the ladies of R.C.T.Q,

2005." Everyone, those whose blocks were not included and those who were not able to participate in this Hug, sending love and blessings Tyler's way is represented in this Hug.

I apologize to anyone that may be hurt, and take full responsibility.

With love and appreciation to all at RCTQ, to Connie, Tyler, and all the men and women in service to America.
