OT: Sick QI

Hi Guys, Reno (Black Cat) has not been well and had to go to the Baby Dr. Thursday. The babies eat dry food and Reno has always thrown up when she eats too fast. Since the summer, she has been throwing up more and more and I realized after returning from Austin on Tuesday that she was getting tooooo skinny! The dry food is available all the time but DH usually gives the babies some "fancy" dry food as a treat in the morning and evening. I told him to start giving Black Cat canned food (always a VERY special treat in the past) as her treat in the morning and evening. Since I am home most of the time, I started feeding her a little bit during the day whenever she came into the kitchen and asked. Anyway, the Dr. said everything looked OK but Reno had lost a WHOLE pound in the last 3 months -- a LOT for a cat who only weighed 9# to begin with!!! Blood work was sent to the lab and results came back yesterday. Everything looks good, kidney levels are a bit high but not bad for a cat who is at least 12 years old. We are still waiting on the results of the heart worm test and the Dr. said house cats (mine NEVER get out) can get heart worm as easily as outside cats! Dr. said if the heart worm comes back OK, then the problem is likely just that Reno is getting to be an old lady cat and just can't handle the dry food anymore. She has also been totally pissed off at MOI for leaving her so much in the last few months and wouldn't even look at me until last night. THAT was punishment for taking her to the BAby Dr. I am sure -- LOL! Hopefully, having canned food to eat will help my poor kitty put on a bit of weight. She is just toooooo skinny and her backbone and ribs were starting to stick out! I was very upset for a few days and am happy to have the good word on the blood test. Now, let's just hope the heart worm test comes back negative and I'll be very happy, to say the least!!! Besides, I need to make a quilt for my DSis and Black Cat is one of my best QI's! How could I possibly quilt with just one QI to sleep on my fabric?!?!?!?! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Keepin' my fingers crossed that Reno's test results turn out well. As the newly adopted mommy of our own black cat, who I'm discovering has quite a bit of attitude, I can understand what you're talking about when you say Reno wouldn't look at you until last night. Cats are definitely champions when it comes to putting us in our place!

Let us know what you find out, please.

Hodge is definitely trying to put us in our place! He has an eye infection that is taking a long time to mend and has to have eye drops 4 times a day. I hold and DH administers. I now have to wear a coat as claw protection and yesterday he spat at me - unknown from such a placid and well behaved old gentleman! This evening I started out without coat and have a large hole in my arm from back claw!

Oh poor old Hodge. (Poor you, too). Tigger has had eye trouble - and they don't like them being 'messed with' do they? Hope everyone is completely healed very soon. . In message , Sally Swindells writes
