OT snow

Good gracious, Doc. Some of us have long ago outlived our life expectancy - but Mama didn't tell us we had to finish our quilts first! I don't know if that's depressing or challenging. Polly

Not having to go out always makes a big difference. Then it's just really pretty to look at.

=A0There are times I leave Rochester in

BTDT!!!

Yes, It really is. My home is south of the thruway by about 5 miles and I work in Rome which is north, we do get the "double lake effect" from Lake Ontario and Oneida Lake. Double Whammy most times. I can drive from home in the AM and there will be sunny skies, by the time i reach Rome it's a blizzard. My gorilla likes pineapple. try that, Doc-LOL!

We went to school in Canton/Potsdam. Drove that route enough times during the winter - or couldn't due to 9 ft. of snow on Tug Hill. I remember the photos (and dangers) of kids walking the snowbanks at the same height as power lines - not cool.

OK, we are really catching it here now - 6" since this morning (when there were already 3" on the ground) and it's still coming down "near blizzard". Fudgey just got his first trouncing into a snow pile bigger than him (and he loved it!) Wasn't too good for my back, though... He got a brain freeze snuffing around looking for a place to go... He's routing around, suddenly stops, looks up with this really pained look on his face with his lips all curled up funny... Then after finally doing his thing he butt-tucked around the yard... It was a scream.

Looks like it's north of Nightmist, but it may be heading for Amy...

We didn't get the monster snow, but we got some monster flakes and a few white-outs this afternoon. We have a wind advisory and a lake effect warning, but unless the wind shifts a little more easterly it is going to miss us almost entirely.

I was stupid enough to hike out this morning to make the half mile trek to the Craft Shop for some brass stripping. Doubly stupid for taking the short way that included the bridge over the river. Got half blinded in a localized snow flurry caused by a steam release from the electric plant when I was in the middle of the bridge, and had an ice cream headache just from breathing in the wind over the river by the time I got to the end of it. I detoured around the bridge on the way home.

NightMist trebly stupid for forgetting her scarf and gloves when it is >18F with winds gusting up to 30mph

Small world, Doc--my DH grew up in Potsdam. He's left there many years ago but still has brothers up that way!

Stay warm! It was really cold here today, but at least the wind had died down, and that made it a bit more bearable. It'll be cold again tomorrow, but then we're expecting a warming trend - I think we're headed toward highs in the 20s!

We'll do our best to send it your way.

I just had to say it didn't I. The wind did shift, and blew that patch of weather right onto us. It is a snow day. Not only do we have a lake effect warning, but we have a NWS special advisory (oooo *roll eyes*), and blowing snow warnings (means they don't want people to drive because there will be sporadic white outs and snow drifting over the roads). It appears we can expect a half inch to an inch per hour until tomorrow afternoon, and somewhere tonight they reckon the wind is going to get all bothered and give us gusts up to 50mph.
