Here in central southern IL, the temperature dropped so fast between 4 pm ad 6 pm that my outside thermometer is frozen at 29 degrees (which it definitely ISN'T). now, to figure out how many layers of clothing I need to do my errands...

I'm in Springfield, and you need LOTS of layers today! It's 7 degrees here at the moment, and yesterday's 64 seems like a distant memory. The dog was really quick with her morning jobs in the back yard, and the birds are all fluffed up, probably debating whether to go to the heated birdbath.
it started out as a breezy 41 degreesF this AM at 6:30, now it's
25degreesF and it's snowing, blowing and thundering!!!! glad i started out early for work!!!amy in CNY
It's almost 9 am here and the temperature is 2 below. I really don't want to get dressed and go to my quilt group this morning. At least the wind has died down. Last night it was howling about 50 mph. I suppose I need to go out and see if I still have shingles and siding on that side of the house.
At 10:00 AM here in SE Michigan... it is 10 degrees F. Yesterday it was in the 40's. Between 2 AM and 4 AM (I think that is what they said on the news) -- we dropped 33 degrees!!! Bright sunsine out there... and over night and earlier this morning... horrendous winds! I have many VERY tall trees... and was waiting to hear the "SNAP" of them breaking off... they were swaying and bending as if there was dance music playing!
You poor people. I wish I could send you some warm weather.

The same weather system is now affecting eastern Canada - the winds are increasing, the freezing rain and ice pellets are hitting the windows periodically - it will be a good afternoon to bake muffins, I think? jennellh in Ottawa.

From tornadic quality winds blowing intense rain to tornadic quality winds blowing intense snow......

*today* with the 4 degree windchill......
In my part of central Illinois, it dropped over 20 degrees in less than a half hour. You could feel it change and yet I couldn't believe the numbers were changing so fast. We went down to zero by the time we went to bed. Now it looks like snow tomorrow night. Still feels like paradise to me because my hubby retires on Friday!!! I love early retirement!!
