OT: Surgery

When I had my arthroscopy(sp?), I was told to wait a few days before showering, but you don't need to cover it up. (I had three little holes in my knee, and stayed awake during the surgery & got to watch via the monitor - Way cool!.) Just softly pat dry. Oh, and once the stitches come out and it starts to heal over, use a drop or so of vitamin E oil on it and you won't have visible scars - unless ya want to show them off. (This Vit.E advice came from one of the nurses in the recovery room.) ME-Judy

Judy, I always use Vitamin E on any kind of injury I get to keep scarring down. Had first shower today, it felt so good. I had no desire to watch mine, I use to work in the OR and I have seen about as many surgeries as I have a desire to see, I don't mind watching other people's but I certainly don't want to watch mine. I also didn't want a spinal and he said he wouldn't do one on a young person, LOL I didn't know I was still considered young by anyone.

I was just telling a couple of my friends that this scope was much less painful than the MRI, the MRI made me sicker than a dog because holding my knee in the same position caused terrible pain, I was so sick when I had the MRI that when they let me up I threw up all over the place from the pain.

This surgery has been a breeze to this point and I am ready to start on my quilting again, although I think that might be a little too much at this time, for my knee to hold down the pedal to my machine for any amount of time. Since my machine also sets where we put the Christmas tree, I guess I will just wait until the new year to start again, unless I can manage to set it up at the dinning room table for something to do between Thanksgiving and Christmas, being I have all my shopping done and almost all of it wrapped. I bought that last one yesterday. I will be bored between the two so I might just try and set it up on the table or I could try my hand at cutting some too. I have one quilt I want to make that will be kind of confusing to put together so I may go on and cut, then basted the blocks together for it, so I know I have them in the right place.
