OT - that scary flu

I have it. The nose, the throat, etc. The cough is scary cuz I am weak already from all the problems with my meds. The pain is pretty scary too, cuz I had no idea one body could hurt so much. Doesn't seem possible. And I am so weak. My prayer request is for no pneumonia, and to stay out of the hospital. Thanks so much, loved ones.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have that ugly flu! Please do drink enough fluids (not just water), so that you won't have dehydration/ electrolyte problems on top of everything else.

Karen, you're certainly having much more than your share of health issues this year, aren't you? Please take it really easy and stock up on vitamins!

Hi Karen. I just got here. Been quilting (well. somebody's gotta do it). Anyhow. I see your question about orange juice. Methinks you'd better ask your pharmacist. Those folks know their stuff. He can look at your list of meds and tell you what would be very good for you, what's kinda useless and what to avoid. There's just no telling what might be best. Could be buttermilk if the thought appeals to you, could be cranberry juice. Maybe Gatorade. Maybe not. DH had a bad time with meds because we didn't know that it + grapefruit juice was a bad thing. Very bad. The old folks believed that chicken broth and weak tea were good. They may have been right. Our children were certain that the only cure for flu was popsicles - so, do give your pharmacist a chance to earn his keep. They really do like being helpful. We will hold you close. Polly

Oh Karen, that's awful. So sorry you've been 'attacked' yet again, with another health problem. If you can, keep drinking lots of fluids. Also, those food drinks - often used when people cannot manage solid food, or are in a weakened state, would be just the thing for you now. I don't know any of the brand names you might have, but 'nutrition drinks' should be good enough for the pharmacist to know what is meant (can Bob get some for you?). Can you try lying in bed with your head and shoulders raised? This might help with the coughing and, hopefully, deter pneumonia. will keep up the prayers. . Cranberry Juice doesn't mix with some medications either.

{{{{{HUGS Karen}}}}} and bestest wishes from across the pond. The flu is something I could definitely well do without at the moment (with this broken ankle!) so I think I understand where you are coming from!
