Karen, I think I've always had to be signed in. It says my name at the top of the screen like I have registered at some point. Maybe you lost your "cookies".
Cindy
i noticed that too! really dumb.

I never keep my cookies after an internet session, and I have never had to sign in to search for and watch YouTube videos. This is a mystery.

Odd ... I was just watching YouTube and I didn't sign in ... I've never signed in!

Oh, just remembered - if you have a Google account (that's what I use for my blog), you're automatically signed in to YouTube!!
Sometimes, when I go to my blogspot account, I go to the sign in page and it recognizes my computer and automatically signs me in!

For me (just now) it _allows_ a login, but did not insist. I don't have an account, never did, and it shows that I am not logged in. So I didn't have this problem.
My favourite: ma & pa kettle math. But then I am a logician by trade :-)

I can't get the home page, just a log in page with boxes to check which country, etc. Very odd looking.

I'm probably being silly, but double-check the URL ... small scam artists often buy domain names VERY close to popular web site domains strictly so if you misspell even slightly, you've landed on *their* page instead of the one you wanted.
Speaking of "off" domain names ... about 10 years ago I typed in a quilting site and transposed one letter and ended up at a p*rn site! The word I misspelled *wasn't* quilt!! Go figger.

Howdy!
I don't.
There was something on FOX news about YouTube last night. I was only half-listening but it had to do with parents being able to check on where their kids were wandering around at YouTube. Apparently, they've set up some sort of system requiring log-in if they suspect you are of young and tender years. Polly
No wonder I don't have to sign in! ;)
Thanks, Sandy. I clicked your video link to get on-site, then I clicked the Home tab, bookmarked it, closed the browser, opened the browser, and tried my bookmark. It works.
Okay - so then I closed up again, and erased all my cookies and browser history. And I tried a cold entry like this morning, typing in youtube.com myself. It works too. So the weirdness has been taken care of by somebody! heh heh Not all computer gremlins are bad I guess

My, now ain't that sweet of them to think I am of young and tender years. hmm....... I don't remember ever being of young and tender years. But it's sweet of them to want me to log in like that for a few hours today.

Hmmm....I've been using YouTube the last several days - from three different computers - and haven't had to sign on (unless I wanted to leave a comment of course).

LOL! I have a "major" birthday coming up this summer, Jeanne -- *very* "major". ;)
Are you sure you have the addy spelled correctly? Here's a link:
Yup -- I'll be *60*! Yikes! ;) It certainly beats the alternative, though, as George Burns used to say.
