Hope all the folks in the fire areas are safe.

Here in southern MO. I woke to thunder-sleet! I tried to go to the post office with mom's goodies and couldn't make it. My truck did fine in 4 wheel drive with *very* careful driving, but I was afraid to get out at the post office- if I even got that far. I can't take the chance of falling with this hip replacement. The entire city is shut down and all the businesses are sending employees home according to the radio station. There's an inch of ice with freezing slush on top. I had to break the coating of ice that covered my truck to open the door and get out when I got back into my garage. I'm gonna be housebound for a good/bad week at least! I don't know how The HairyButt Gang is going to get outside to do their business..... I sprinkled that ice melt stuff, but it's coming down too fast for the ice to melt!

Scary!!! Y'all stay safe!

Take care of yourself Leslie! I'd better check our forecast. Our guild is having a charity sew in this afternoon, a soup supper and our regular guild meeting today. I hope we don't get settled in and then get smacked by bad weather! We'll have a lot of leftover soup if we don't have a good turnout! It's been a wild winter!!!

Oh, no! I'll be thinking about you today and hoping the electric lines hold up under the ice & you don't lose power.

We're okay, though there was a fire in a field about 5 miles away from us (if that) - hay caught on fire and was headed towards the church!! Mostly, we've had downed trees and sporadic power for the last 24 hours.

Fires in not too distant counties and even the next city affect the Tidewater region here in Virginia. Yesterday I worked at the Election, so I left home in dark, came home in dark ... did not go outside all day. Several voters mentioned the smoky overcast. I noticed the light smell of smoke, in spite of some rain in the mid day. The strong smell of smoke woke me up about 4:15 am today. Fortunately, we now have a heavy rain. This is weird. Thanks, Taria. This is a new experience for me. It is sure making me a bit more sympathetic to those who have this problem on a regular basis. Here's hoping we all stay safe, where ever we are. PAT
