OT: Yoo Hoo! Joining the I'm Back crowd

Hi Gang Home again after a wonderful month in Italy. DH and I travelled around seeing the sights and eating beautiful yummy dinners. We rented two country villas for a week each - well, one was in the Umbria countryside and the other was in a little stone castella group of houses perched on a hill an hour out of Florence. As I *love* cooking, it was great fun to sightsee during the day, step in the food markets and prepare an Italian style dinner at night for these two weeks. Broke up the eating out in restaurants scene which altho' is enjoyable, is hard going for a month.

Now... where's that quilt studio in my house???

Oh, it transpires that France and Italy had their warmest April in a century - we had blue skies every day which did seem somewhat remarkable. Now home in southeast Queensland, it seems more like summer than autumn with 28dC today (and more blue skies) == we could do with lots of rain. Severe water consumption restrictions are in force.

Hugs to everyone, for happy times and those in need of comfort. Bronnie Oz p.s. big to Pat on her Hill.

Welcome home Bronnie!

We got rain on the weekend! Almost 50mm (2") of soft steady soaking rain. My grass is green already, but no run-off into reserves yet. Still, they forecast more rain this week!

Hope you get a good ol' Q'land drenching soon too

Hi Cheryl - I heard you had a good drench of rain which is just fantastic. No sign here....sigh..... Let's hope it really is the end of El Nino and winter rainfall follows. Bloody hot here today excuse the French!

Waving back with glee, Bronnie. So glad you had a great time. You could have had good weather here, too! Warmest, driest April since records began (300 years ).

I have seen (recently) some wonderful quilts inspired by a trip to Tuscany. Have you come back with photographs you could re-interpret? I bet you have. If you do do an 'Italian' quilt, I hope it will go on your photo site. Some of the ones I saw last week were 'based' on architectural features and patterns, even more than the countryside. They even made you feel hot! . In message , Bronnie writes

How wonderful that the weather was so perfect for your holiday, Bronnie! :) It's good to see you back, and I'm glad your trip went so well. Are there any quilts coming as a result of it?

Actually, didn't take many pix - just enjoyed absorbing the interesting landscapes and old stone house towns. There's this beautiful hazy look to the countryside unlike the crisp light in Australia. The spring leaves were just peeping out at the beginning of the month and by the end, were in full leaf. Of course we walked our feet off visiting galleries and churches and historical sites. I've got to finish a couple of UFO projects before looking at the Antarctic penguins for a quilt WH......

Glad you had such a wonderful trip, Bronnie! I couldn't visit France or Italy, as the airplane seat that fit me on the way there wouldn't stand a chance on the way back. I'd have to buy two seats!
