OTOTOT - Vacuums

Does anyone here have an Oreck vacuum?

Any problems with it clogging up? Turned mine on today and it blows dust out. Took it apart as much as I could and didn't find anything. I think it's confused.

TIA!!!!!

Don't know Orecks... but some machines have a "switch" on them to switch from sucking in.... to blowing out. Any possibility you have that... and it got switched without realizing it?

Unfortunately no. Wish it could be that easy.

Thanks..................

Cindy, mine has done that, and when it happens, I take the bottom panel off and usually find the clog in the tube near the bottom. It didn't happen until we got new carpeting, and for whatever reason, it just doesn't like it!

Thanks Louise. I'll try it again but I didn't find anything the first time.

What she said.

If taking the tube near the bottom off doesn't help, try to stick your finger in the hole behind the brushes on the bottom of the vacuum...its about 1/3 to the side, not dead center..it might be clogged in there.

If that doesn't help, turn the vacuum and look at the bottom. If the brush thing isn't rotating, the belt has broken and replacing the belt (a repair you can do yourself with a screwdriver and about 5 minutes of time) should do it.

Beyond that, go visit the repair shop. They do a nice job cleaning it and tuning it up. Mine was just there last week ;-)

Thanks for the info - it's currently at the shop getting it's tune-up and an unclogging.
