Pepper jar Quilt

Oct 02, 2006 2 Replies

Last year someone posted a link to a pepper jar quilt they had made. It was the bug jar pattern made to look like barrel jars. I saved the link and they were even nice enough to send me the directions which was also save on the computer. They problem was I had a hard drive crash and lost most everything including the pepper jar information. I tried to search for it and could not find it. I am hoping the person who designed it could please send me the link again

Thanks, Tamara remove the nospam to reply

I don't have a link for you but I do have an idea. I'm planning to use it myself for a jar quilt or two. The only jar patterns I've seen are pieced ones and they all look about the same, straight sided. I like doing applique better. It seems to me there are a lot of jar shapes that would be easier to do using applique methods, so I am going to take a camera into a store and photograph every interesting jar I see and then make my own applique patterns from the pictures.

If you have one of those barrel type jars at home you could lay it on it's side and trace the shape for an applique, then re-size the drawing to suit your needs. Debra in VA See my quilts at
