PING: Linda PATCHogue, NY OT: Box Tops for Education

Linda,

Do we still have time to send in box tops? What does the count look like for the special needs kids? I have a small pile here for you. Do you think you could post a reminder for us forgetful folks every once in awhile?

Yes, there is still time. We will continue until either late Feb. or early March. We are in 4th place right now and we are about 300 behind

1st place.

Please, Linda, do give us a Code Three or Red Alert or something on the group to remind us when we need to mail you our final collection. I was surprised to discover that some paper towels and bathroom tissue have the box top things and am trying to remember to clip them. Polly

Linda,

What's the status on the box tops? I have a few more here to mail to you. I hope the kids are getting close.

I guess we should continue saving these for next year too, huh?

We are in second place, but 1500 out of first place. Our nearest competitor is 800 behind us, so it looks like we will end in seconds place since there are only two weeks left.

Funny thing is, many teachers of other classes and some parents are angry and calling it "cheating". But didn't they ask people to save for them too? Some teachers think it's great and have promised to donate their personal boxtops to special needs class next year.

If you want to continue to send them, I will save them for next year - or throw them in this year if it gets close.

That's not funny.....that's pathetic! I still think it stupid that they don't divide the number of points by the number of students in the class. That's the "cheating" part!

Send your addy, I have a few to add. Didn't realize I had that many.

When DD was on the Swim Team, they had to 'sell ads'. She asked at the local hospital and was told they couldn't because they had too many parents who had kids on that team. DD went on to raise the most money EVER...to the point they had a Plaque made for her and a nice ceremony to present it to her at the end of the year picnic). The next year she came in 2nd place---a gal GOT an ad from the same hospital that said no to DD.. DD brought it up to the coach. At the picnic that year, he told the team NO MORE ads would be accepted from the hospitals as it wasn't fair to the rest of the team who had parents that worked there. They actually had a list of Businesses that refused ads--so in all fairness he didn't want the Team to bother them. It all worked out for the best that way. He was the FAIREST Coach we had ever run into in all the different sports that our Kidlets played on. He taught Good Sportsmanship :)
