Ping: Yvette

I got your scanned image ... but I still don't know if you're using EQ6! If you're using EQ6, I can trace the PP pattern very easily, but it won't work for you if you've got EQ5 (since you won't be able to open it).

Please let me know!! I want to help!! :)

Hugs!! Connie :-)

Updates are available, but some people are happy sticking to the version they know. I got my update when it first came out at a reduced price.

I'm not very advanced, but love playing around with my EQ6 (updated from EQ5!) I find it really useful, even at my low level! The 'help' bit is wonderful. Have a tour around their website - you can see then just what it will do. (Especially the Albums)

Linda, I bought the update from EQ5 to EQ6, but EQ5 just can't "read" EQ6 files. This is pretty common; backwards compatible is usual, but forwards compatible isn't. The same thing happens with things like MS Word, etc.

How do I like EQ6? I love it! However, everyone is different, and I know that our CATS didn't much care for it. Similarly, how much each person uses it will vary by how many projects they have going at once, how much time they spend "playing", etc.

I have EQ6 and have played with it just a bit (have to finish this quilt before I do anything 'extra') Directions seem easier to follow than EQ4 was. I just didn't get very far with EQ4 at all. Didn't upgrade to 5. Not sure if it helps any but I'm looking forward to working out a quilt that has all KIND of diff sizes and shapes next year with the fabrics I plan on using in it.

I *LOVE* it ... I usually use design applications like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc, which are VERY intuitive, VERY full-featured, VERY high-quality, etc ... so I'm REALLY spoiled when it comes to software. So, in my humble opinion, EQ6 (NAYY), is much, much, much more than I could have hoped for. EQ6 is more like the graphics apps that I usually use ... even more so than my graphics apps' competitors.

There are improvements that I *would* like to see ...

1) A way to set preferences in keyboard shortcuts (with Illy, you can hit, say, F3 to place an image, or "S" to call up the "selection tool" - can't do that with EQ), 2) A more intuitive paste command (right now, if you create a block that's 4x4 and you change the background size to 4x6 and paste from the clipboard, the pasted object expands to fit the old background size). 3) A more intuitive bezier curves tool ... right now, the "drag" bezier feature is stunted.

I'm not sure about updates ... but then, since I just bought my copy, I think my copy came "updated." But I've heard from others that updates are free (except, of course, updating from say, version 5 to version 6). And tech support is superb. Couldn't ask for better. In fact, Adobe could learn a thing or two from EQ!!

Honestly, I'd rather play in EQ6 than any other application!!! :)

HTH!! Connie :)

EQ is great! Especially EQ6. I upgraded from EQ5 and the difference is a big bonus. I also have the add in programs too i.e Dear Jane and Sew Percise. The latest version is much more user friendly and if you go through the tutorial you will catch on. You can also take classes at Quilt University. I LOVE to see the color design of my quilt on the monitor.

I will present a basic overview of the software to my guild in a few months. Most of the vintage members still use graph paper.
