Prayers and good thoughts needed

Prayers continuing for your DD here in WA.

At the dr. appt last week, the doctor gave her these thin gel-type packs to put on the wound, to be changed once a day. We were hoping they would accelerated the healing of the worst burn, the big one, on her calf. Along with that she was taking some extra vitamins, drinking lots of water, staying off her feet more, etc. The only time she was up was when she was going to her classes in the mornings.

But Monday night while she was trying to change it, the pad pulled off a layer of skin with it. OUCH..... It was not a good night, needless to say.

We got her into the doctor yesterday ASAP and after much discussion, examination, pros, cons, best and worse case senereo, we all decided the skin graft would be the quickest way to get this wound healed and get her back to normal.

In retrospect we all think this is probably the best thing, as the scaring will definitely be less than without the graft. She will need to be off her feet for a week to ten days.

I spoke to her academic advisor today (who happens to have his office on the fourth floor of the same building I work in - how convenient is that), who knew early on what was going on with her. He feels it's early enough in the semester, and because she'll have a internet-connected laptop at home she should be able to keep up with, or at least catch up easily, with all her assignments and school We will make arrangements with the school and professors this week, and I can get copies of notes, lectures, etc. I never dreamed just how convenient it would end up being for DD to attend the same college I work at....!

Please keep her in your prayers that the graft takes and is successful. She has really had a rough four weeks since this started. Hopefully we can keep her spirits up until she is literally back on her feet again.

Going with the graft will also get her back in the race car quicker so she can get in the last one or two races of the season. What a wrench-head she is! LOL

Oh, noooooo! Poor lass! I do hope all goes well for her, and she is in my thoughts.

Fiongers will be crossed for a speedy recovery and that even when still off her feet, she is well enough to keep up with her studies.
