Quilt Shops

DSisIL and a friend are hopefully (volcano co-operating!) visiting the US for a Button Convention, and have asked me to ask for the names/locations of quilt shops on her drive from New York to Manchester, New Hampshire so she can do some shopping for me.

This sounds a very Good Idea (!), so if anyone has suggestions they would be appreciated. She isn't a quilter, purely a button collector, but on her last trip over she bought my Christmas present - lots and lots of fat 1/4s from Mary Jo's. I was a happy quilter!

Thanks

I'm nowhere near Manchester, NH but I do know that Keepsake Quilting is just a few hours drive North from there! What could be better than going to Keepsake Quilting, I ask you??? I have done this and thoroughly enjoyed the experience :-))). Besides that, I have no clue about LQS in the area. BUT -- I do have a needlework friend who lives in the area who would be able to provide the info assuming that no one here does so. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I don't know about the quilt shops, but I was in New York City a couple days ago, and stayed near the garment district. I was amazed to see a store that sold nothing but buttons! I'll bet your sister-in-law would love it!

Thanks. I'm not sure what their itinery is after/before the show, and I'm not sure that her devotion to me runs to a few hours drive to a quilt shop (remember she isn't a quilter!) but will bear it in mind if she does travel further north.

Just a mile or so south of Manchester, in Bedford, is Martin's House of Cloth - all sorts of fabric and notions (including BUTTONS), with a large quilting department.

Thanks. That sounds very convenient, and something for DSisIL to enjoy too.

I've put it on the list.

I just received an e-mail from my friend who lives up that way. She's actually going to the "bead thing" herself!! Anyway, she said to give her a few days and she will put together info on what is available in the area. I might tell her to post it directly here so that others who might be interested will get the info too :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

No quilt shops in Manchester, NH but several in the area. Martin's House of Cloth has down sized and not so good in my opinion. My favorite quilt shop in NH is located in Henniker, about 30 minute ride from Manchester - Quilted Threads -

There is a shop in Concord (about 20 minutes from Manchester)that is nice called Golden Gese - no website.

Keepsake Quiltng was already mentioned but that is like a grocery store not a quilt shop. Lots and lots of fabric but not really a quilt shop feel to it.

If she is only going to go to one shop I would highly recommend the first shop I listed - Quilted Threads.
