Quilting Freebie

Exciting day today. Alex Anderson spoke at our quilt guild. She was really great and brought tons of quilts for us to see. An advantage of her living close enough to drive!

She mentioned that this Saturday, March 20 they are going to make The Quilt Show site free for 24 hours in celebration of National Quilting Day.

So, if you're not a member and are wondering if it is worth it to join, this is a good chance to be able to check things out.

I won't get to see it either. Our local quilt show is also this weekend and we've got a houseful of unexpected guests as well!

Where was your guild meeting? I am from Livermore. I am trying to decide when to visit family this year and see some quilts at the same time. I'm thinking of going during the fair or the Santa Clara show. Any suggestions?

We meet in San Mateo.

By Santa Clara show do you mean PIQF in October? That is a big and very nice show with tons of vendors.

Livermore has a great show in September called Quilting in the Garden held at Alden Lane nursery.

Sadly, the local quilt guild who does their show on the same weekend only does it every other year and that was last September. So only one show that weekend for this year. The San Mateo County fair is in June this year. We have tons of quilts because we now also get all the entries from Santa Clara (who now only does 4H exhibits). Also our guild is doing our quilt show at the fair so it's two exhibits in one.

Lots of quilt shows and quilting stuff going on in this area. There's a pretty good calendar of it all at

The site also has links to a lot of guilds and quilt shops. marcella
