Quilts for Katrina evacuees

Could I suggest that any of you who live near a Project Linus coordinator - get in touch with her.

Project Linus now has requests for close to 6000 blankets for evacuees in various areas and the numbers continue to climb. If you can help to quickly make blankets for your local chapters to send to the areas who need them - that would be great. They will be sent to the chapters that are in need of blankets for evacuees in their area. None of these blankets will go into warehouses to be delivered whenever.

The requests have mostly been for single layer polar fleece and lighter weight quilts. No double polar fleece, no 'heavy' quilts. Blankets needed are kid sized, so it doesn't take very long to make a kid sized blanket.

Thank you so much Donna. There is a drop off site right down the road from me. I am heading to the ol' quilting room right now to check out my polor fleece assortment that I have done nothing with for 2 years. Great ideas from wonderful people.
