quilty movies

Nov 18, 2007 11 Replies

After spending all weekend running up and down the stairs, from my sewing machine to my dh's computer (mine is in the process of crashing so I'm desperately saving/backing up all those things that I really can't bear to lose before the final crash comes), I got to thinking about quilty movies. Besides the "obvious" (to me at least), namely STEPMOM and HOW TO MAKE AN AMERICAN QUILT are there any other quilty movies that you all know about? Just curious how often our favorite hobby has made it into the movies.

I don't know of any other quilty movies. I have my recorder set to record anything show with the word "quilt" in it. The Berstein Bears had a quilt episode as well as the Walton's.

There is an episode of "Law and Order SUV" where a boy is put into a psych hospital (or clinic) that has three very nice quilts on the walls of the room where he talks to the therapist. I've seen it several times. I believe the same child actor plays a twin sister in the episode also. Every time it's on, I wish I had TIVO so I could study the quilts a little longer. Yes, I could go to another tv and video tape it.....but I never think of it and usually can't find a tape quickly enough.

One first skimming of the episodes, I didn't find it. But I was cruising pretty fast. I'll have to look closer later. I have no idea when it came out, as I'm a L&O junkie and will watch re-runs over and over. I guess since I can't remember the specifics, that's why I watch them....they always seem "new"! LOL

I can see the face of the young man (early teens) who was the focus character(s) in the episode. Gosh I hate it when I get fixated on something like this and have to figure it out. I remember the boy had a twin sister (played by the same actor) and the plot twist was that the boy put on a wig to commit a crime to look like his sister. I'll spend some time reading through the plots to see if I can find it. I didn't notice until now that all the episodes have one word titles.

I watched 50 First Dates last night. It's set in Hawaii, there is a scene where the lead is attacked whilst wrapped in a Hawaiian quilt.
