Amsterdam: Den Haan & Wagenmakers (but you probably know that one already) Vienna: Exquisity All over Germany and Austria, there are shops selling folklore fabrics (cotton, linen and wool) for ethnic clothing Italy: silk all over the place

Hope that helps, there doesn't appear to be a specific museum, but lots of places selling indigo fabric etc.

Bon voyage

in Amsterdam - behind the Royal Palace, as you face a big dept store - Magna Plaza -, go to the right, few yards down that way is a very nice quilt shop - Birdblocks - they have a website (though no online sales yet), there is a shop selling repro Dutch cloth next door but it's only open 2 days a week - i think it's Tuesday and Friday. and fabric shops down one of the biggest markets - Albert Cuyp street - the market stalls are usually at the front of the appropriate shop, so if you see a fabric stall - behind you'll see the shop itself...bought some indonesian prints in one...5 euro/metre ain't bad, is it :))

To Poland - great! To Amsterdam - great!

the only thing that marred the hols was my TOOTH...I mean, its bits...got oinfected once in May (penicillin), July (penicillin)...and then started as soon as hols strted...now, guess what, it's next penicillin and on a waitng list to the dental horse pistol to have the bugger out...at the sedation clinic.

OTHERWISE it's all fine...enjoyed Amsterdam lots and met up with Hanneke, who came to Malvern several years ago - i think it was the year before you came. she pointed me in the direction of the shop I mentioned ;))). How was your summer? how was Birmingham? will you be tempted to come to Stoneleigh in October - we could lodge with Michal - DS....he's in Coventry - just a stone's throw from both B'gham and Stoneleigh.....hhhmmmmmm

In Amsterdam a MUST is Den Haan & Wagenmakers! It could be the one Krysia metions above. They are only open three 1/2 days a week. The fabric is GORGEOUS!!! Expensive but gorgeous!! Manufacturer's website is here with directions to the shop.

Emilia >>Paris: Le Rouvray for toile de Jouy

Having looked up the shop Birdblocks, I see that in fact they took over part of the Den Haan & Wagenmakers store! Great! Now I should go back as they have added many different types of fabric...
