Re: bead stores in Europe??

The Victoria and Albert museum in London, and theres also a good one in Bath.

Charlie.

I am about to embark on a two month tour of Europe next month (can't wait!) > and I'm hoping you all can tell me about some textile-related stores, > museums, etc. to visit while I'm there. I'm a textile artist by trade -- > mostly dyeing, quilting, and sewing -- though I turn my hand to most things > from time to time, and I'm interested in EVERYTHING to do with textiles and > embellishment. The itinerary is still pretty wide open, so any leads or tips > you can give me will be *much appreciated*!! > > Many thanks, > > Christy Conklin > >

I lived there a geologic age ago, but wasn't into beads then. Sorry I am no help with your question, but I wanted to wish you a wonderful visit. I loved Berlin. And someday before I croak, I want to walk right through the Brandenburg Gate, which had a inconvenient big concrete wall blocking the way through its arches when I was last there. If you get a chance, walk through it for me...

*****Wish I could, but *I* am not the one going. My son (who just got back from Iraq) is going to Berlin TONIGHT for a friend's wedding, and his assignment is to bring me beads. He told me today that they are going to get a Eurail pass and travel to a few other countries, so I have requested beads from EVERYWHERE. ANd it was music to my ears when he said he might go to the Czech Republic. I have educated him that he CANNOT come home from there without beads!!! And crystal from Austria, if he goes there. Personally, I'd LOVE to be the one going to Berlin.

It appears getting crystals from Austria is like getting blood out of a stone. My friend spent two weeks there a month ago. In spite of her many requests for crystals the only ones she was offered were made up, apart from a visit to the Swarovski centre. There she bought a vial of 5mm crystals. Only very few colours on offer. When she got home it was found they could have been bought cheaper in UK. Shirley
