Re: My new Flickr account

No noisy adverts, but every time I tried to look at anyone elses pictures on Webshots I kept getting the pictures overlaid by a link to a dog picture site. I found this irritating when I wanted to look at quilts, so to avoid this for others I've changed to Flickr (actually I set it up ages ago but never got round to changing the link under my siggy).

I think the link works ok as I've tried it on DH's account, but if someone could give it a click and see if its ok I would be grateful.

Thanks.

Works great for me, Sally! :) I enjoyed the "tour" of your quilts.

Thanks - that was quick. I noticed that other people with Flickr seemed to have numbers instead of a name at the end of their link so wondered if I had missed something!

Now I can go to bed happy!!

When I looked at the pictures again I noticed that there seems to have been a lack of ironing before photographing!! Next time I will be good - but I hate ironing!

Your quilts are gorgeous! As the rest of the pics, too -- I really enjoyed taking a peek. Thanks for sharing! (I just noticed, and made a comment about Webshots, that's where my pics are. The "HEY SHERRY" box that jumped in my face was just a little much) Sherry

Terrific Sally! Really enjoyed perusing your photos. You've got some beauties in there--and not just the quilts. Garden and QIs too. :-)

Sally, the link works fine, and I really enjoyed seeing your work again. Lots of pretty, both gardens and quilts! And I'm in love with Singing the Blues.

We must've been moving to Flickr at the same time. I'm so happy it was so painless, and so glad to be free of the awful Webshots ads.

Howdy!

Yee-Haw! The page looks great. I appreciate the white background in-between the photos, really makes those quilts "pop" off the page. Restful, too, after all the busyness of some sites. Lovely quilts, Sally. Thanks for the Show & Tell.

Just out of curiousity (and to be an instigator/HP) would you have been as irritated if the link had been to a CAT picture site? 8^=C7=B7

Yep! Would have been irritated whatever the picture - when I am concentrating on a subject/picture I have chosen to look at I don't want anything suddenly plonked over it! You then have to look what it is and how to get rid of it. It doesn't happen just once but again and again. I haven't even been tempted to look at the advertised pictures. If the advert was outside the main viewing area I might be tempted to look, but that would be after I had looked at the thing I originally went to see.

Even the cats here aren't allowed to sit on my book or sewing (all those needles and pins). Hodge's favourite place is on the back of my chair against my neck. I do wish his tummy wouldn't rumble so much!

Hi Sally, The Flickr link is perfect. Some great handiwork there too! I have webshots and would like to change. How would I go about moving them over? I lost all of my Photos when my computer crashed so I only have the ones that were on my webshots left. Is it possible do you think.? I am NOT a whizz kid when it comes to the computer! Estelle UK

Hi Estelle, I don't really know much about computers either!

However, if you have Paintshop Pro (and I'm sure there are other programs where you can do the same thing) you can 'capture' the picture from webshots and it goes into Paint Shot Pro. (I have the import set so that when I tell PSP I want to do it, I just follow the Import prompts and then click on the screen I want to save and then crop, etc, but you can do it so that you choose which bit of the page to import - but that too complicated for me!). Then you can save it as a JPG picture (I do this to save pretty pictures from other sites I want to re-look at). Then of course it becomes 'your photo' again.

I think the only way would be for you to take your pictures back to your own memory - they wouldn't let you transfer them to the opposition!

Estelle, go to your webshots page, right click on each picture, save to a folder all together so you can find it again easily. then go register on the other website and follow their uploading instructions. i reckon putting pix online somewhere as well as on your computer means they are always somewhere else in case of a crash. if you get a generic email addy you can also keep them safe by sending them to your generic addy and keep that email online. my @yahoo has a pretty big capacity and i'm really lax at deleting old emails i dont need anymore. oh well. holler at me at home if you get stuck again. you've got my email addy somewhere i'm sure. j.

Bit late, but I've had a look now!

They look lovely. I prefer your arrangement to the one I have. I really *must do something about it. Must brave the 'help' from Flickr!!
