Sew busy

Well needless to say I haven't been posting much here the last week or so. I have been getting my grandchildren's quilts ready to go. I have on on the quilt frame already and the other 2 I am basting together at this time. On top of that I am still making some other blocks that I am committed to making. Seems as though the sewing machine never stops these days.

The only time it stops right now has been for necessity. Like sleep or trips to the dr. or dentist. The big trip out was to the dentist this week. I had to have all my teeth extracted (Ouch). I am doing ok. I will be getting dentures in about 6 weeks. It had to be done this way because of my other health issues. It seem that the moment that I begin feeling better than I have in years something else just pops right in to take its place. The good thing is that I am not in any real discomfort, I just look funny. I sure will be glad when the swelling goes down though. The good news is that being home and believe me going out as little as possible right now, I am getting a lot of my quilting projects for the holidays well under way.

I have also decided to make quilted Christmas cards this year. They are being done in a red work design. So far the few samples I have made myself have come out very good. This year I figure the extra effort is worth the time since I was unable to send out cards last year. This holiday season looks as though it will be better than the last one. I surely hope so. Well back to the sewing machine. julia

Hi all,

I have been lurking on this group for quite a while now and when I saw Julia's post I just had to say that I am doing quilted Christmas cards too. Each year I have been giving my family members a Christmas bauble with writing on them - this year I decided something better needed to be done and I am about 3/4 of the way through 27 of the cards. I have now decided that they will get a quilted card each year with a different theme or whatever takes my fancy. I shall post pics when I have them finished.

Regards,

You've really been busy! I think the quilted Christmas cards are a wonderful idea...I might try that myself. :)

I hope your mouth heals quickly.

Welcome ex-lurker Di! One of these years, I hope to be in 'not a rush', so that I will have time to make quilted cards. I do love the idea of them - just never managed it yet! . In message , Maloney Empire writes

Wow you have been a busy woman! Go Julia!! Would love to see pictures of those cards when you get them done. I would love to do things like that, but just no time right now. Maybe when my boys get a bit older.

Hi Di - from another Victorian who makes quilted Christmas cards!

Hi Di,

You never told me you were into sewing let alone quilting, hows the geneology going ?

I never thought I would 'see' you here.

Dee in Oz Di won't recognise my 'name' here but as soon as she sees the email address it will 'click'.

Mal> Hi all,

Hi Denise,

Great to 'see' you on here.

Genealogy is going well - getting bigger all the time.

My foster sister got me into quilting but I have been a sewer all my life since I was about 9yrs old - I used to help my Mum make baby overalls - piece work at that time.

I am well and truly addicted to quilting - I always wanted to do it but never had the time to take lessons. Still learning but just loving every minute of it.

Hang around here long enough and you won't need lessons lol.

There are some really great girls here with all sorts of hints, tips and advice. You do realise that you must list your chocolate preferences and QI ( usually cats and dogs) now that you have stopped lurking don't you ( for some reason no one as asked about mine)

Mal> Hi Denise,

So good to hear all this from you, Julia. Well, all except the teeth part at the moment. But trust me, once you get your dentures and get used to them, you will be so glad you did this. I love hearing about all that you are getting done, sounds like you are taking great advantage of the good days. Keep it up!
